Resident Evil Requiem Could Be Bringing Back Another RE2 Character

Resident Evil Requiem Could Be Bringing Back Another RE2 Character

Resident Evil fans think that Sherry Birkin of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 6 fame may be making a comeback in the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem. Resident Evil Requiem‘s initial reveal confirmed Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from the Outbreak games, as one of its main playable characters. More recently, Capcom finally admitted that the other main playable character in Resident Evil Requiem would be none other than Leon S. Kennedy.

Leon Kennedy is one of the most popular characters in Resident Evil history, and so it’s really no surprise that Capcom is bringing him back for Requiem. Resident Evil Requiem‘s story is directly tied to the Raccoon City incident where Leon had his first encounters with Umbrella’s monsters, and so it would be a big missed opportunity not to bring him back for Requiem. Alyssa Ashcroft and Leon are the only two returning characters 100% confirmed for Resident Evil Requiem so far, but it seems Sherry Birkin may be along for the ride as well.

Resident Evil Requiem Reveals How Much You Get to Play as Leon

Resident Evil Requiem’s director confirms Leon S. Kennedy will be playable for much of the game’s runtime, focusing on action segments.

Evidence That Sherry Birkin is in Resident Evil Requiem

Twitter user Waleed pointed out that the character Leon speaks to in the Resident Evil Requiem Game Awards 2025 trailer is most likely Sherry Birkin, as the voice matches what she sounded like during the events of Resident Evil 6. Waleed also pointed out that Sherry and Leon both work for the same anti-bioterrorism organization DSO, and so it wouldn’t be a stretch at all to assume Birkin has a role to play in Requiem.

Considering Resident Evil Requiem‘s ties to the Raccoon City incident depicted in Resident Evil 2, it really would be fitting for Sherry Birkin to be featured in the new game. Besides Sherry Birkin and Leon Kennedy, two other OG Resident Evil 2 characters that fans may also want to see in Requiem would be Claire Redfield and Ada Wong. Unfortunately, neither have been confirmed for the new game at the time of this writing, but that doesn’t mean they won’t make some kind of appearance.

With the Resident Evil Requiem release date so close, it’s possible that Capcom won’t be revealing any more major details about the project. It will want to keep some surprises in store for fans, after all, and so it would make sense for the company to keep its cards close to its chest. There undoubtedly still be some reveals between now and when Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27 — the only question is what Capcom will be willing to show off between now and then, and where it might showcase the game.

Capcom has been known to have its own special events to detail its upcoming projects, and it’s entirely possible Resident Evil Requiem will be featured at one of those. Alternatively, Xbox has its annual presentation in January that could be a perfect place to showcase Requiem. Nintendo traditionally hosts a Nintendo Direct in February every year, so maybe it will show up there instead. Whatever the case may be, the Resident Evil Requiem release date is coming in hot and so even if Capcom doesn’t have any more big reveals planned, fans can look forward to experiencing the game themselves in just about two months time.
