Resident Evil Requiem Easter Egg Hints at the Next Remake

Resident Evil Requiem Easter Egg Hints at the Next Remake

Resident Evil Requiem includes an Easter egg that is a direct nod to Code: Veronica, which is believed to be the next game in the franchise to get a remake. Resident Evil Requiem players have now had plenty of time to go through the acclaimed survival-horror game from Capcom, and they have discovered all kinds of interesting details and Easter eggs in the process.

Some of the Resident Evil Requiem Easter eggs are out in the open, while others are a little trickier to find. For example, players have to use a freecam tool on the PC version of Resident Evil Requiem if they want to find a Resident Evil 7 Easter egg that talks about the events of that game and the fate of its characters.

New Resident Evil Games for the Next 3 Years Just Leaked Online

A reliable Resident Evil insider reveals what the future has in store Capcom’s long-running survival-horror franchise.

A different Resident Evil Requiem Easter egg has been discovered, and it’s much easier to find. In the bar lounge of the Rhodes Hill care center, Resident Evil Requiem players can find a variety of liquor bottles. One of the bottles is labeled AVERNICO, which is an anagram for “Veronica.” Effectively, players have to solve the code to figure out, and so it’s a rather blatant nod to Resident Evil — Code: Veronica. Code: Veronica, for the uninitiated, was originally developed as a Dreamcast exclusive before making its way to other platforms with enhanced ports that expanded the game further. Code: Veronica earned extremely positive reviews at the time of its original launch, though certain elements of it, like how easy it is to get soft-locked on your first playthrough, have earned some criticism in the years since.

When Capcom went from the Resident Evil 3 remake to the Resident Evil 4 remake, fans were worried that it was going to completely overlook Code: Veronica. Even though Code: Veronica is not a numbered entry in the Resident Evil franchise, it is still very much a main series game. Code: Veronica is home to plot developments that are integral to the Resident Evil franchise as a whole, and so it would have been disappointing for Capcom to skip over it in its crusade to remake all the Resident Evil games.

Luckily, it’s been leaked that Code: Veronica is the next game on deck to get a remake, and not only that, but its remake will supposedly be coming in early 2027. If the leaks are accurate, fans should be playing the Code: Veronica remake within a year. A Resident Evil Zero remake is believed to be next, with a 2028 release window, with Resident Evil 10 currently expected to drop in 2029. Finally, it was recently leaked that Capcom has started production on a second Resident Evil 1 remake, so franchise fans should be eating good.

Requiem’s Liquor Bottles Also Reference Village

Code: Veronica isn’t the only Resident Evil game referenced by Requiem‘s liquor bottles. A separate one was bottled at Chateau Dimitrescu, a location from Requiem‘s immediate predecessor, Resident Evil Village. Lady Dimitrescu from Village has become one of the most popular villains in Resident Evil history, and so it’s not surprising to see her referenced in Requiem.

As more Resident Evil Requiem players make their way through the game, more Easter eggs are likely to be discovered. Besides the ones already mentioned here, a reference to the original Resident Evil game as well as Resident Evil Zero was also found. It will be interesting to see what else the community uncovers in Resident Evil Requiem in the days ahead.
