Resident Evil Requiem Footage Seems to Be Hiding a Secret, Unannounced Character

Resident Evil Requiem Footage Seems to Be Hiding a Secret, Unannounced Character

Eagle-eyed fans of the Resident Evil series believe they have spotted an unannounced character hiding in the latest gameplay footage for Resident Evil Requiem. The Resident Evil series is no stranger to side characters. We’ve seen these side heroes since the very inception of the franchise, whether it be Rebecca Chambers curing the venom from Yawn in the original Resident Evil, or Ashley Graham tagging alongside Leon S. Kennedy’s journey through Spain in Resident Evil 4. With Resident Evil Requiem releasing on February 27, fans are starting to wonder what side characters might be featured in the new game.

With the question of how often you can play Leon in Resident Evil Requiem now answered, it’s clear he won’t be a side character and instead take up around half the playable sections. Leon’s gameplay will be combat-oriented and chock-full of roundhouse kick opportunities for the undead foes, with new hero Grace returning to the horror-drenched roots of the series. If this is Grace’s first experience with zombies, then, much like Jill, Chris, Claire, and Leon before her, she’ll need a helpful side character to help. After the latest gameplay footage for Resident Evil Requiem was released, fans are sure they’ve found the latest side character hiding in plain sight.

Resident Evil Requiem is Bringing Back Ink Ribbons and Limited Saves, But Don’t Stress About It

Capcom confirms that Resident Evil Requiem is bringing back limited saves through the return of the classic ink ribbon system, but it’s not required.

Who Will Resident Evil Requiem’s Side Character Be?

Eagle-eyed fans over on Reddit are sure they’ve spotted a new side character in Resident Evil Requiem. The screenshot from the latest gameplay footage shown above seems to show Grace interacting with a child in white clothes, as Reddit users have noted. Others have noted how, around the 5:42-minute mark in the footage, one of the objectives states, “Take the child to the puzzle box.” Could this objective be referring to the child Grace seems to be interacting with earlier, and if so, who is this child?

This wouldn’t be the first time a child character has been in Resident Evil, with Resident Evil 2 featuring Sherry. Sherry was encountered during Claire’s campaign and was around 12 years old, proving useful gameplay-wise and also in regard to the narrative. It remains to be seen how important this new child character will be in Resident Evil Requiem.

For now, fans will have to wait a little longer to uncover who the unexplained child is in Resident Evil Requiem. With Resident Evil Requiem officially bringing Leon back to Raccoon City after 28 years, one has to wonder who else might return in the new game. Only time will tell, and dedicated fans only need to wait until February 27 to have all their questions answered.
