A new leak claims that the DLC for Resident Evil Requiem might bring players back to the iconic Spencer Mansion, which appeared in the first game in the series. Resident Evil Requiem was released in early 2026 by Capcom, with a story that brought back some of the most iconic elements of the franchise. Leon S. Kennedy came back as one of the protagonists, and the game also saw players return to the ruins of Racoon City.
Raccoon City was the setting for Resident Evil 2 and 3, but the first game and its 2002 remake took place at the Spencer Mansion located in the fictional Arklay Mountains. Another remake of Resident Evil 1 is rumored to be in development, though Capcom has not confirmed the game’s existence at this time.
Resident Evil Requiem Heads Back to Spencer Mansion
In a post on Twitter, leaker AestheticGamer has claimed that a return to the Spencer Mansion was planned for Resident Evil Requiem. The area was scrapped during development, but may have been “repurposed” for the DLC. Resident Evil Requiem‘s story DLC was previously announced, but Capcom has offered little in the way of details. This has led to a lot of speculation about what the developers have planned, and exactly when it will be released.

AestheticGamer was quick to note that plans could change as development proceeds on the DLC. However, this is already leading to a lot of questions from fans about how Spencer Mansion could appear in Resident Evil Requiem. The original Resident Evil takes place in 1998, and the mansion has long been destroyed, just like Raccoon City itself. It’s hard to imagine much being left intact, but Raccoon City seemed similarly decimated. It’s possible some elements of Spencer Mansion may have survived the destruction.

If this leak proves to be correct, it could offer a hint at what Capcom is planning for the rumored remake of Resident Evil 1. If the Resident Evil Requiem DLC and the remake are being worked on at the same time, it could give the developers a chance to make sure specific elements line up. The remake could even offer a hint at how specific areas of the mansion made it past the self-destruct sequence, and managed to remain intact. There are a lot of ways the developers could pull this off, and a return to the ruins of Spencer Mansion could make the DLC for Resident Evil Requiem feel truly special.
Unfortunately, it could be a while before Resident Evil fans have a chance to see what’s being planned for the DLC. Rumors claim that Resident Evil Veronica will arrive before the DLC, though Capcom has not confirmed if that will be the case. That remake has been confirmed for release sometime in 2027, though a specific date has not been announced. Fans of the series should have plenty to keep themselves busy next year, but it remains to be seen when some of this content will actually come out.
