“Do you know how hard it is to be your own man when your dad is Jabba the Hutt, and you have human arms growing out of your alien armpits?” – Rhotta the Hutt

While I mostly liked Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, the film wasn’t a big financial hit for Lucasfilm. But Disney’s merchandising team can’t predict the future and must start designing and creating toys, clothing, and other merch months and months before a movie is in theaters and without knowing how fans will react to different characters. And after Disney missed out on a ton of money by not making any Baby Yoda merch in advance of the character’s debut in order to keep his existence a surprise, it will likely never let that happen again for any potential future breakout Star Wars characters.

And so that’s how we ended up with this wild-looking Rhotta the Hutt inflatable Halloween costume that is available to order from Spirit right now for the low, low price of $75. That’s cheaper than Grand Theft Auto 6!

I have so many questions about this Rhotta outfit. Why did the designers give the suit legs textured like Rhotta’s skin? It seems like Rhotta has tiny legs, which I don’t remember from the movie. Let me rewatch it. (Rewatches Mando and Grogu) Nope. No legs. I guess I could have just watched a trailer and saved some time…

Another question: The hands sticking out of the armpits. Sorry, that wasn’t a question. Let me reword that. Ahem. Why? Why would you do this? Who looked at that and went, “Yup, nailed it!” If anything, Rhotta’s costume should come with gloves that are textured like his skin. That would sort of hide them. Or maybe some skin flaps above the hand holds that hide your hands when not using them.

One more question: Who wrote the text description for this costume, and why did they suggest that someone would call Rhotta their “favorite character from The Mandalorian?” Maybe some weird Star Wars sickos like me love him for being so strange, but how many teens or kids are jumping to dress up as Rhotta the Hutt this Halloween season? Also, he’s from The Mandalorian and Grogu. Come on, Spirit Halloween, I expect…well, actually, this is about the quality I expect. Carry on.

My one big regret in life is that this outfit came out after Burger King stopped selling the Mando-themed Bounty Hunter meal. I wish I could have worn this costume, wiggled my way into my local Burger King, and ordered that meal. Alas, dreams made real are dreams no more, but memories of better times.

Anyway, uh, I’ve run out of questions about this costume and don’t have a third image to share, so I guess I’ll just end the blog here…Seems like a fine spot. Have a nice weekend!
