Popular online gaming platform Roblox has earned the ire of fans, increasing the cost of its cheapest head accessories to 95 Robux. This appears to be a 20 Robox markup from a change that was made in Roblox only about a month prior.
For most players, the main source of Robux is through purchasing them with real-world cash, although there are other ways to get Robux. These methods include selling custom-made clothing and items and creating and hosting games on Roblox, as the developers’ means of compensating content creators who add to the on-platform experience for others.

Roblox Fan Makes Nostalgic Discovery in Their Inbox
A Roblox fan discovers a shocking unread message from 14 years ago, sent by one of the game platform’s most enigmatic figures.
The recent price hike for the least-expensive head accessories was pointed out on Reddit on June 4 by user Blandscreen. This price seems to only apply to actual headgear and not other head accessories, as purchasable hair options are still reportedly available for as little as 65 Robux and facial parts for as little as 75. This all follows just a little over a week after the end of Roblox‘s The Classic event, which also drew criticism for the high cost of its retro rewards.
This Isn’t Roblox’s First Price Hike Recently
Roughly a month ago, another Redditor had called out Roblox for increasing the base price of its head accessories to 75 Robux. Players responding to both posts are overall very disappointed with the decision to raise prices, with most indicating corporate greed as the reason behind them. Some others have also taken offense with the Roblox accessory shop’s claims that 95 Robux equates to 34 cents, which seems to be a gross misrepresentation based on the conversion rate when buying Robux online. And about a month and a half ago, long-time players started lamenting the loss of Roblox Tix, an old login reward that players used to be able to exchange for Robux.
For those who only acquire Robux by purchasing them directly, there’s no exact price comparison for dollars to Robux, as buying bigger quantities at one time will result in a lower cost per unit of in-game currency. The cheapest package available on the platform’s website is 400 Robux for $4.99, or roughly 80 Robux per US dollar, while the most expensive is 22,500 for $199.99, or roughly 112.5 Robux per dollar. Complicating the currency conversion further, subscribers at three different levels can receive monthly lump sums of Robux at even better conversion rates, with the highest-tier subscription rating costing $19.99 monthly and paying out 2,200 Robux, and gift cards being available in amounts as little as 80 Robux for $1.01. Even though they have no real value outside of the gaming platform, their value as a currency is still rather high, with Robux surpassing the Russian ruble in value in early 2022.
