Final Fantasy has never been a series that was particularly shy about turning its worlds, characters, and stories into things fans could remember long after finishing a game, and that’s exactly what’s happening with Final Fantasy 9. The franchise has been around for decades now, and Square Enix has continued finding new ways to bring pieces of its older Final Fantasy games back to fans (sometimes through remasters and rereleases, sometimes through merchandise).
Many Final Fantasy 9 fans have been waiting for the remaster/remake treatment. The game has developed a lasting following since its original release, with characters like Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, and Beatrix remaining some of the more recognizable faces from the series. Final Fantasy 9 also has a distinctive visual identity and a world that feels different from many of the more modern entries, which makes it an easy game to revisit when Square Enix wants to create something specifically aimed at longtime fans.
Final Fantasy 9: Roses of May Puts the Spotlight on Beatrix
That is now happening with a new Final Fantasy 9 collectible centered around Beatrix, as Square Enix has opened pre-orders for the Final Fantasy 9 Music Box: Roses of May. The product costs £24.99 (or $28.99 USD) and is currently scheduled to release in October 2026 (although Square Enix notes that the release date is approximate). The small box features Beatrix on its front and is designed around one of Final Fantasy 9’s recognizable pieces.

The Final Fantasy 9 Music Box – Roses of May measures approximately 5.99 x 5.30 x 3.98 centimeters, making it a fairly small collectible compared to some of Square Enix’s larger Final Fantasy merchandise. Square Enix says the designs for this line of music boxes are based on scenes where their respective songs appear in the Final Fantasy games. In other words, the idea is less about creating a generic Final Fantasy item and more about tying each collectible to a specific moment from the games.
The Final Fantasy 9 release also comes as Square Enix continues to produce physical collectibles based around the series’ music and history. The company has also been releasing larger products such as the Final Fantasy 10 LP Vinyl Set – Eternal Calm-, which celebrates Final Fantasy 10 with a two-record collection containing 20 songs, commemorative artwork by Tetsuya Nomura, and an MP3 download code containing 89 tracks from the Final Fantasy 10 Original Soundtrack.

The Final Fantasy 9 product is considerably smaller and less expensive, but it follows the same general idea of turning a memorable part of an older Final Fantasy game into something fans can physically own. With the product currently scheduled for October 2026, fans will not have to wait particularly long to add it to their Final Fantasy collections.
