Minecraft‘s rumored new mobile entity, or “mob” for short, has been leaked in the most unexpected way. For nearly two decades, Minecraft has innovated the way people enjoy sandbox and strategy gaming with regular updates to enhance the overall experience.
Minecraft developer Mojang recently changed its game drop strategy by shifting from large annual updates to more compact updates that will come out every three to four months. This included updating specific features of the game and introducing baby versions of mobs during the Tiny Takeover. According to Mojang product manager Anna Lundgren, the move is meant to be more sustainable in order to split the Minecraft teams’ priorities properly, allowing them to work on different features and change multiple aspects in the game over the course of a year.

Minecraft is Rumored to Add a New Character
The updated rollout schedule could also mean that Minecraft devs will work on new mobs that players can interact with. It seems like a new mob might be on the way because Hallmark recently listed a Minecraft Keepsake Ornament for an unknown character named Blub, which Mojang hasn’t even revealed. The brand’s website shows the silhouette of a creature with what looks like long ears and legs, and that customers can order it for $22.99 starting October 10, 2026 — just in time for the holiday season.

In a Reddit post, user DrAwesomeX also reported on Hallmark supposedly leaking Minecraft‘s new mob, theorizing that it might be introduced during the game’s Fall update. Plus, they clarified that Blub may not be related to the upcoming Minecraft Dungeons 2, which is slated to come out later this year, after many fans theorized that the leaked mob could be part of its roster. Meanwhile, some fans offered their guesses on what Blub could be, including a sentient cauldron and some sort of tiny pet.
Every year, Hallmark releases gaming-themed Christmas tree ornaments based on popular franchises, such as Minecraft, Super Mario Bros., and Halo. It isn’t unusual for brands to tease new products months ahead of their release, and Blub’s “reveal” in Hallmark’s Minecraft-themed Keepsake Ornaments catalog is no different. In fact, this could even help build anticipation for the strategy game’s Fall update and even Minecraft Dungeons 2 as fans will look forward to seeing Blub in the wild.

Historically, Minecraft‘s Fall update was when the Mob Vote would happen, where players could vote for the next character they’d like to see in the game. Although the Mob Vote was officially retired in 2024, Minecraft still continued to add new mobs to keep the game interesting. It would make sense for Blub to be revealed in time for this year’s Fall update. However, because of Mojang’s new game drop strategy, it’s also possible that Blub might come out earlier than expected. Fans will have to wait and see what Minecraft has planned for the rest of the year, including potential new biomes to explore.
