Samson Game Gives Update on PS5 Version

Developer Liquid Swords has just confirmed that the console versions of Samson are currently slated for a Fall 2026 release. While the exact platforms are unconfirmed at this time, it’s very likely that Samson‘s console ports will include PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions at the very least.

Led by one of the key figures behind the Just Cause series, Samson is the first game from new studio Liquid Swords. Samson is a third-person action-adventure game that sees players assume the role of the eponymous former criminal who’s forced back into a world of crime in order to pay off some serious debts. The game released on PC on April 8, and unfortunately, it wasn’t met with the best reception from critics or general audiences. Samson currently sits at a Top Critic Average of 53 on OpenCritic, with just 33% of critics recommending the game. Over on Steam, Samson has a “Mixed” rating based on 2,414 user reviews. GameRant’s own Nick Rodriguez gave Samson a 3/10, calling it a “a broken, boring, charmless mess of a game that needed either more time in the oven or a stronger vision.”

GTA 6 Clone Breaks Gamers’ Hearts, Leaves Them Waiting for Its Official Release

As the wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 continues, another anticipated GTA clone has failed to meet a lot of gamers’ expectations.

Samson Comes to Consoles This Fall

But despite the negative reception, Samson‘s developers aren’t giving up just yet. In a recent Steam community post, Liquid Swords posted a new, updated 2026 roadmap for Samson. Coming right at the end of that current roadmap is Samson‘s console launch, which is currently slated for Fall 2026. Though this is a positive update for Samson‘s console ports, it’s currently unconfirmed exactly which consoles Samson will be coming to, or when exactly they’ll be arriving in the Fall.

Samson’s 2026 Roadmap Explained

Before Samson‘s console launch this Fall, this game is set to receive a plethora of updates. Samson has already received two sizable post-launch patches, both of which brought sweeping changes to the game that range from general stability improvements to combat refinements and even the inclusion of new tutorials that better explain specific melee and driving mechanics.

According to this recent Steam community update, Samson will receive its third post-launch update on April 22. Along with an assortment of bug squashes and general fixes, Samson‘s April 22 update is said to bring more combat improvements, new car variants, vehicle tuning updates for keyboard, time trial refinements, and more performance optimization, among other additions and tweaks. Samson‘s fourth update will then arrive a week later, on April 29, and will focus on specific issues highlighted by community feedback on top of general performance and gameplay improvements.

Developer Liquid Swords plans to continue this weekly rollout of Samson updates for the foreseeable future, with a May 9 update already listed in the most recent roadmap. Two major content updates are also planned to release over the next few months, with a “mid May” update said to bring new combat-focused content to Samson, and a “mid June” update said to add new vehicle-focused content. In theory, by the time Samson releases on consoles this Fall, it should have received at least 10 post-launch patches and at least two content updates.
