Releasing on April 30, Sea of Thieves‘ Season 12 will deliver a host of fresh pirate-themed content for players of the title developed by Rare. A trailer for the update has just been unveiled, turning the spotlight on some of the next season’s most prominent additions.
What to Expect From Sea of Thieves on PS5
Rare’s pirate adventure Sea of Thieves is finally sailing its way over to the PS5, so those who have yet to play it may wish to know what to expect.
A brief launch trailer for Season 12 of Sea of Thieves showed off the new Double Barrel Pistol in action. The weapon can unload two shots in quick succession or at the same time, giving users some flexibility when fighting. The Double Barrel Pistol has less range and damage compared to the regular Flintlock Pistol, which is considered to be one of the best weapons in Sea of Thieves.
Aside from weapons, the recent teaser for Sea of Thieves‘ 12th season also highlighted the Scattershot cannon ammunition and the Bone Caller throwable. The Scattershot ammo breaks apart into four smaller cannonballs, potentially delivering multiple points of damage to ships in one shot at the cost of having far less range. Meanwhile, the Bone Caller summons skeletons that have a limited lifespan to fight for its user. As the Bone Caller can be fired from a cannon, it could prove to be incredibly useful during ship battles in Sea of Thieves, which often makes it to lists of the best games that feature ship combat.
Sea of Thieves Season 12 Release Date
For those interested in spicing up their pirate’s wardrobe and style, Season 12 of Sea of Thieves will add new clothing, scars, and tattoos. It will also bring new flags, sails, figureheads, and cannons for ships. Player cosmetics and ship items are considered to be some of the best things for Sea of Thieves players to spend on, as they can make a character and their boat look unique.
Season 12 will arrive shortly after Rare revealed that Sea of Thieves has managed to attract 40 million players. In addition to providing fresh content, the upcoming update will introduce a new feature: the ability to traverse through harpoon lines. It will also have a new Plunder Pass, which is the paid battle pass for Sea of Thieves that provides players the opportunity to unlock even more rewards.
