It’s no secret that September 2026 is ridiculously stacked when it comes to new PlayStation 5 games. In an effort to avoid competing with Grand Theft Auto 6, video game companies have opted to release as many of their games in September as possible, resulting in an unusually busy month.
September 2026 in general is busy when it comes to new PS5 game releases, but there are certain days that are especially so, with multiple titles dropping all at once. September 4 was one such day, with PS5 gamers treated to Isle of Reveries, NBA 2K27, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword on the same day. Looking ahead, the next especially busy day PS5 gamers will want to keep an eye on is this coming Tuesday, September 8.

On September 8, a whopping six PS5 games are all set to launch at the same time. That day, PS5 gamers can look forward to playing Aerial_Knight’s MrFreezy, Culdcept The First Saturn Tribute, Halloween: The Game, Honeycomb: The World Beyond, Mewgenics, and Sprawl Zero. Out of these games, there are two in particular that stand out as particularly noteworthy games that PS5 gamers may want to keep an eye on.
The first is Halloween: The Game. Halloween: The Game is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game made by the same people that did Friday the 13th: The Game back in the day. Halloween: The Game is a love letter to the horror movie franchise that inspired it, and it even features a single-player option to go along with its multiplayer mayhem. Halloween: The Game reviews have admittedly been pretty negative so far, but that’s par for the course for these types of games, and may not deter fans of the genre. Horror game fans especially will want to consider checking out Halloween: The Game when it lands on PS5 on September 8.
The other game that PS5 gamers may want to prioritize is Mewgenics. Mewgenics is a tactical RPG roguelike where players breed mutant cats. It was first released on PC earlier this year and earned critical acclaim, establishing itself as one of the highest-rated new game releases of 2026. Mewgenics is just now making its console debut, and it should prove to be one of the better new PS5 releases in all of September.
Later in the week, there’s even more for PS5 gamers to look forward to, with Valheim‘s 1.0 release set for September 9 and NHL 27 coming out on September 11. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. September 2026 also has Marvel’s Wolverine, Silent Hill: Townfall, and more waiting in the wings for PS5.
