Sims 4 Player Creates Their Own Fallout Vault in the Game

Using minimal custom content, a Sims 4 player has built their own Vault from the Fallout franchise, inspired by the television show. Despite releasing in September 2014, The Sims 4 remains strong, with frequent updates from Electronic Arts, and the latest expansion pack is set to launch on February 12, 2026. Its community, while not always agreeing with EA’s direction and pricing for its DLCs, continues to enjoy the game at their own leisure, often recreating locations from their favorite franchises using the game’s powerful build mode.

For example, players recently recreated the Halliwell Manor from Charmed in The Sims 4, as well as the village of Riverwood from Skyrim. What often makes some of these builds impressive is that The Sims 4 lots are constrained to a maximum size of 64×64 tiles, forcing players to be creative. This especially shines through in larger projects, such as building a Vault from Fallout.

There’s always been one Expansion Pack I’ve wanted for The Sims, but after 20 years, it seemed impossible. Now, my dreams have come true.

Made by Rachel Aurore, the Sims 4 community can now enjoy playing with their Sims in Vault 18, a lot that mainly draws inspiration from Amazon’s Fallout show. It features three levels. The bottom level consists of the armory, electrical, and maintenance hall. The middle layer is significantly more complex, featuring five residential units for the vault dwellers, the cafeteria, the clinic, the overseer’s office, the classroom, the nursery, a diner, and a storage area. Lastly, the top level features the iconic gardens, a common area, a gymnasium, a laboratory, a party room, a water treatment area, and an experimental room reserved for the overseer.

The Sims 4 Player Builds Their Own Fallout Vault

The lot can be downloaded from the Sims 4 gallery by searching for Vault 18, but players will need to download the custom content used by the lot via a separate blog. Given the show’s popularity and Rachel’s impeccable work in recreating a Vault from Fallout, it’s no wonder that Vault 18 has been met with glowing praise from The Sims 4 community. Each of the five residential units contains two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, a living area, and a small yard, making the build highly playable, even for larger families.

With Amazon’s Fallout recently concluding its second season, many fans have gone back to replaying the games, especially Fallout: New Vegas. Though there are no signs of a Fallout remaster on the horizon, there is an expectation in the fandom that Bethesda will drop one for Fallout 3 by the end of 2026. Until then, living the vault dweller life in The Sims 4 may be an unorthodox way to pass the time, but it’s certainly a valid one.

As for what Sims 4 players can expect in 2026, there are quite a few rumors on the grapevine. While Maxis has already revealed the twenty-first expansion pack, Royalty & Legacy, the most interesting rumor by far concerns an alleged remaster of The Sims 4 scheduled for late 2026. Titled Project X, this remaster is seemingly being made in Epic’s Unreal Engine, rather than the proprietary engine from Maxis used by the original game.

Another thing to look forward to includes Project Rene, which Maxis recently teased as a fashion-forward, mobile-first Sims title with some form of multiplayer. While details are scarce at the moment, Project Rene has been described by Maxis as a “social, collaborative, life-sim” experience, and that the game has greatly evolved from what the developers originally set out to create. Despite being touted as a mobile-first title, it’s highly likely that Project Rene will be available on other platforms as well. As for The Sims 4, rumors point towards Royalty & Legacy being its final expansion pack, but this has yet to be confirmed.
