A talented Sims 4 player online has created an impressive recreation of Downton Abbey‘s Highclere Castle, and shared it with the community online. The incredible Sims 4 build uses some custom content (CC) to bring the iconic filming location for the British drama to life in the game, perfectly capturing its grand exterior.

The Sims 4 features an incredible suite of building tools that players can use to bring their imagination to life. While there are some restrictions, players have mastered these tools in ways that ensure they’re not massively hindered by these problems. Naturally, the creative community has used its talents to create some remarkable builds over the years and frequently shares them online with other players. Locations from other franchises are very common subjects when it comes to Sims 4 builds, as it’s just interesting to see if they’re actually possible in the game. Just recently, another Sims 4 player recreated Penny’s apartment from The Big Bang Theory, and players often create long-term save files around these creative builds.

This Sims 4 Downton Abbey Build is Stunning

Redditor am2370 shared their incredible recreation of Highclere Castle, the primary filming location for British drama series Downton Abbey, with the game’s community online. The Sims 4 build shows off the castle’s enormous exterior, but according to the creator, there are a few elements on the inside as well. They do plan to make it more detailed on the inside in the future, and am2370 claims that “once it’s decorated this baby will be a dinosaur.” Another user pointed out that this was proof that The Sims 4 needs a bigger lot size, with the original poster revealing that they had to “condense the floorplan a lot, the entire lot is full and it’s not nearly as big as it needs to be.” The four-floor limit also restricted what they could do with the Highclere Castle build. Considering all of those issues, it’s incredible that this build is still as great as it is, but it’s also interesting that the creator knows the areas that hindered them in The Sims 4.

When asked whether the build could be downloaded from the Gallery, am2370 revealed that it has CC requirements, meaning it can’t be uploaded. It’s not uncommon for creators to use mods to jazz up their builds. Sometimes, the tools in the base game simply aren’t enough, and there are plenty of Sims 4 building mods that expand what is possible in the game. This doesn’t make these builds worse in any way – they simply increase the number of tools available to players, allowing them to bring builds to their full potential.

After over 11 years, The Sims 4 remains the latest mainline game in Maxis’ long-running life-simulator series. Although players continue to create amazing builds in the 2014 title, there is undoubtedly some desire for the next game in the series. For a long time, many thought that Project Rene could be The Sims 5, but it has since been confirmed that this is not the case. There is still no indication of whether Maxis is planning a new mainline release at this point, and the developer continues to release new content for The Sims 4 in the meantime.
