Sims Game Suddenly Delisted

The Sims franchise just got a big shake-up, as The Sims Medieval appears to have been delisted by EA. There have been a lot of spin-offs when it comes to The Sims, and The Sims Medieval is seen by many fans as an underrated gem.

The Sims Medieval may not have been one of the franchise’s biggest entries, but it’s one of the series’ most unique entries. As the name suggests, The Sims Medieval allows players to build a life set during the Middle Ages. It plays a lot differently than the franchise’s usual formula, but many players have considered it one of the best Sims spin-off games. Unfortunately, Sims fans who have been interested in giving it a try may be too late.

Rumor: The Sims Project Rene Images Allegedly Leaked

New leaks from Project Rene could be giving an early glimpse into the gameplay of the upcoming mobile-focused spin-off of The Sims.

The Sims Medieval Has Been Delisted From EA’s Online Store

When going to EA’s online storefront, the listing for The Sims Medieval now reads “Not Available.” EA hasn’t offered gamers any insight into why the game is no longer available for fans to buy online. This wouldn’t be the first case of EA shutting down games, but the abrupt nature of this delisting is a big surprise. The Sims Medieval has a rocky history, and this likely played a big part in EA’s decision.

The Sims franchise has become well-known for its post-launch content, but The Sims Medieval didn’t ever get a taste of that treatment. The medieval-based spin-off only got to enjoy one expansion called Pirates and Nobles. Beyond that DLC, there weren’t really any major post-launch updates that kept the game feeling fresh. As fun as it was as a spin-off, the lack of additional content made it grow stale quicker than other Sims games. For example, The Sims 4 updates have been going strong for years, which has helped it thrive for well over a decade. However, some Sims Medieval players have made mods through the years to help with this issue.

This isn’t the first time that The Sims Medieval has been removed from an online store, either. The Sims Medieval was taken off Steam back in 2016. Since then, the game has only been available to purchase online through the EA store. What makes the company’s decision even more surprising is that medieval sim games are having a bit of a renaissance. Between games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Manor Lords, and Crusader Kings 3, there is a solid audience for games that put the spotlight on living a medieval life.

As for now, it looks like The Sims Medieval is going to remain delisted for the foreseeable future. It’s unclear if EA plans on releasing an official statement explaining its reasoning for the delisting, but that might be wishful thinking. The reign of The Sims‘ medieval simulation game has more than likely reached its permanent end of the road. The Sims Medieval may have been a Sims spin-off that flew under the radar for some life sim fans, but those who have already purchased the game will hopefully now be able to appreciate this underrated entry even more.
