Skyrim Mod Adds Wild New Way to Defeat Dragons

Skyrim Mod Adds Wild New Way to Defeat Dragons

A Skyrim modder showed off an unconventional mod they created that allows players to defeat dragons by engaging them in a way that does not involve any conventional weapons or physical violence. Instead, the Skyrim mod in question allowed the Dragonborn to debate a dragon in an in-depth discussion about the geopolitical climate of Tamriel.

Skyrim was first released in November 2011, but that has not stopped the fifth entry in The Elder Scrolls series from keeping fans engaged to this day. Along with releases on multiple platforms, Skyrim‘s continued popularity is due in no small part to the sheer number of mods available on PC and consoles. While some Skyrim mods are focused on the game’s user interface, other mods change how Skyrim‘s NPCs behave, with some mods providing NPCs with some different interactions altogether than the base game would otherwise allow.

Skyrim Player Creates Hilarious Dragon Debate Mod

Though Skyrim dragon encounters are usually violent affairs, a modder made a mod that allows the Dragonborn to face off with a dragon in a battle of words and ideals. A Twitch content creator named Blurbs allowed his viewers to submit the “dumbest mod ideas” possible. One of the ideas that came up in his chat was called “Dragon Geopolitical Debates.” By placing two lecterns down on a flat surface, a dragon would appear on the podium next to the Dragonborn, and the debate would then begin. The questions and responses were taken from Blurbs’ Twitch chat, with the chat assuming the role of the dragon and Blurbs as the Dragonborn. In a YouTube montage taken from one of Blurbs’ previous Twitch broadcasts, one of the debate questions asked each debate participant what their stances were concerning rumors that Ibuprofen caused vampirism to run rampant in Tamriel.

Blurbs’ chat then voted on the debate’s winner. Should the Dragonborn be declared victorious in the draconic debate, the dragon would then die. Although some mods allow Twitch viewers to interact with Skyrim via NPC dialogue, Blurbs’ custom Skyrim mod is not available to download on any mod distribution service. Some of the other custom Skyrim mods that Blurbs has shared on his livestreams include a Dragon Shout that allows the Dragonborn to conjure some angry chickens whenever the Unrelenting Force shout is used. Another mod played a “bonk” sound effect whenever Blurbs swung his weapon at an enemy.

Skyrim Fans Continue to Provide the Game With Longevity

Given Skyrim‘s age and constant presence within the gaming industry, Bethesda’s long-running RPG has given rise to some of the wackiest mods that players can download. However, some experiences in Skyrim can also be done without any mods whatsoever. Skyrim players can use the Telekinesis spell to make an elevator out of a simple cabbage, which can both raise the Dragonborn’s Alteration skill, and prevent taking fatal damage from a long fall.
