While there is certainly no shortage of unique Pokemon merchandise for fans to enjoy, the latest unexpected launch of brand-new Pokemon Sleep body pillows created with the assistance of a sleep therapist has quickly caught the attention of the franchise’s community. Pokemon has continuously expanded beyond the realm of video games, from its iconic television and film adaptations to limited-time dance parties and meet-and-greets at theme parks, but these specially designed body pillows promising more than just nostalgia and comfort could be a one-of-a-kind addition for Pokemon collections.

When Pokemon Sleep first launched in 2023, audiences were mixed on whether the mobile simulation should be classified as a game or just a sleep tracking app. However, it eventually grew in popularity, and the ability to catch Pokemon while sleeping became a fun way for players to work towards healthier sleep patterns. Wanting to build on that prioritization of health among gaming audiences, a new collaboration between Pokemon Sleep and Japanese bedding brand Showa Nishikawa looks to combine the popularity of dozy pocket monsters with centuries of “sleep craftsmanship.”

Pokemon Sleep Snorlax and Bewear Body Pillows by Showa Nishikawa

Pokemon Sleep is celebrating its third anniversary with an official collaboration with Showa Nishikawa, which includes the debut of specially designed body pillows featuring the iconic Pokemon Snorlax and Bewear. Showa Nishikawas has conducted research focused on the human body and sleep quality for decades, and the expertise of a sleep therapist is being put into a functional Pokemon product with these new body pillows. The Snorlax and Bewear Pokemon Sleep body pillows feature a tapered design that provides shoulder and hip support for fans who prefer to sleep on their side. Each pillow retails at 9,900 yen, or approximately $63, making them a higher-end purchase for Pokemon Sleep fans who are interested in adjusting their sleeping habits beyond the game itself.

The Pokemon Company, which is jointly owned by Nintendo, Creatures Inc, and Game Freak, has been on a tear in recent months, dropping surprise Pokemon merchandise releases with Target and LEGO, among other surprises. This newly revealed collaboration with Showa Nishikawa marks another major crossover between the powerhouse brand and a specialty company, and audiences have continued to voice their appreciation for the sheer variety of official Pokemon collectibles on the market. It is unknown if the Showa Nishikawa Pokemon Sleep Collection will offer any other body pillow designs, but players can also grab exclusive double-layer plush blankets, stretchable towel pillow covers, and more items that feature other pocket monsters like Eevee and Pikachu.

Pokemon Sleep has had a couple of unexpected releases for fans to enjoy in 2026. To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Pokemon, Mew was added to Pokemon Sleep, and now the Snorlax and Bewear pillows designed by a sleep therapist are once again evidence that the seemingly simple game about getting a solid night’s sleep remains on the development and expansion radar for The Pokemon Company, even if sparsely so. Pokemon fans can follow along for any additional merchandise reveals for 2026 and beyond, as well as any news on updates to Pokemon Sleep.
