Some Resident Evil Requiem Pre-Orders are Coming with Something Totally Unexpected

A new Resident Evil Requiem bundle has appeared online, and it comes with a freestanding pull-up bar. Capcom’s highly anticipated survival horror is just a week away now, and one retailer is celebrating with a rather unconventional package deal. On top of getting a physical copy of Resident Evil Requiem, it seems some fans will also get the chance to get fit, thanks to this strange but very real bundle.

The leadup to Requiem‘s release has been chock-full of leaks. Several details about the game, including the return of fan-favorite character Leon Kennedy, were all but confirmed well before Capcom officially announced them. Even the game itself has come out a little early in some areas, with fans finding some Resident Evil Requiem copies out in the wild ahead of its February 27 release date. While the game may have had trouble keeping many things a secret, this new pull-up bar bundle was likely something no one saw coming.

Resident Evil Requiem is Bringing Back Ink Ribbons and Limited Saves, But Don’t Stress About It

Capcom confirms that Resident Evil Requiem is bringing back limited saves through the return of the classic ink ribbon system, but it’s not required.

Resident Evil Requiem Horrifying Nightmare Set Includes a Real-Life Pull-Up Bar

In a February 19 infomercial-style announcement, Japanese entertainment and e-commerce company Yume Group unveiled its limited-edition Resident Evil Requiem Horrifying Nightmare Set. The bundle comes with a physical copy of the game on either PS5 or Switch 2 and a pull-up bar that Yume Group calls the “Dream Hanging Health Device.” It’s probably not what fans dismayed about Resident Evil Requiem‘s lack of a physical collector’s edition would have wanted, but it still offers something not found in the game’s Deluxe Edition. Unfortunately, anyone hoping to get the unusual bundle has missed their chance if they haven’t ordered it already, as Yume Group’s website shows that all 50 copies have already sold out.

As strange as it seems, the Dream Hanging Health Device is not entirely unrelated to the game. In Resident Evil Requiem‘s Easter egg-filled reveal trailer, Grace Ashcroft is shown hanging upside-down from some sort of medical bed or gurney, so the Horrifying Nightmare Set’s pull-up bar is actually a reference to a real in-game scene. Yume Group even hammered the point home by including a mock-up of Grace hanging from the Health Device in its product listing, though this time, she was hanging right-side-up and does not appear quite as distressed as she did in the trailer.

The Horrifying Nightmare Set sold for ¥19,800, or roughly $130 USD. That places it well above the $80 digital Deluxe Edition and $90 Deluxe Steelbook Edition, but considering how the base game costs $70, it’s not an exorbitant price for both the game and an entire freestanding pull-up bar. It’s also far from the most expensive Resident Evil bundle, as the Resident Evil 6 Premium Edition ran for around $730 in 2012, giving fans a genuine leather jacket similar to the one Leon wears in the game. Only time will tell whether fans decide the Horrifying Nightmare Set is a good deal, and it may take a little longer than other editions of the game, as Yume Group says the bundle will be delivered roughly one week after Requiem‘s release date.

Regardless of what version fans have ordered, they should proceed with caution to avoid spoilers over the next week. As some lucky gamers have gotten their hands on early copies, Resident Evil Requiem leaks have popped up all over the internet, and more are sure to come in the next several days. Still, the wait for everyone else to play the game for themselves is almost over, and there are rumors of more Resident Evil remakes down the line, giving fans even more to look forward to.
