Splatoon Raiders Already Hits Major Milestone After Release

Just days after Splatoon Raiders launched, the Switch 2 game managed to reach the top spot on the UK software sales charts ending for the week of July 25, 2026. Although the Splatoon franchise is mostly known as a multiplayer shooter series, the newest spin-off, Splatoon Raiders, is seemingly making a name for itself as it starts to appear on sales charts.

Following the massive success that was Splatoon 3, many fans were surprised to see that Splatoon Raiders intended to take the franchise in a different direction. After being surprise revealed in the Nintendo Today app, the spin-off game showcased the Deep Cut trio seemingly being stranded on a mysterious island chain following a helicopter crash. Landing on the Spirhalite Islands, players would team up with Deep Cut to find treasure in a primarily single-player adventure. Despite making such a big shift away from the competitive multiplayer gameplay that the franchise is known for, it seems like Splatoon Raiders is turning into a big success.

Splatoon Raiders Hits #1 on the UK Sales Chart

After Splatoon Raiders launched on July 23, the game has quickly managed to rocket up the sales charts in less than a week. Speciofically, the UK software sales chart for the week ending on July 25 has Splatoon Raiders listed as the #1 game, jumping over other recent and popular titles, including the previous top spot holder, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

However, Splatoon Raiders isn’t the only NIntendo Switch exclusive holding things down on the UK sales charts. Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream not only remains in the top 5, it has actually gone up to #3 on the chart, rising 1 spot from the previous week. Pokomon Pokopia continues to thrive in the #6 position followed by Star Fox at #15. Interestingly enough, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe rounds out the Top 20 and continues to be a sales juggernaut, even though it originally launched over 9 years ago for the original Nintendo Switch and has since seen a successor in Mario Kart World.

While the report only lists the UK data and doesn’t disclose the other regions, like North America or Japan, it’s largely assumed that Splatoon Raiders has been a risk worth taking for Nintendo. For one, Splatoon Raiders has seen plenty of positive reviews from critics, with many praising the moment-to-moment gameplay of earning loot and fighting through the Salmonid enemies. Others highlighted the mission structure, progression systems, and reinvention of the shooting from the mainline games as additional strengths.

When it was first announced, many were surprised that Nintendo chose to break away from the core franchise with this single-player focused spin-off. Splatoon Raiders producer Seita Inoue was specifically asked about making a spin-off, admitting that the team has been working for 11 years non-stop on 3 mainline games, so when the prospect of working on something different came up, they were intrigued and interested in trying something new. However, Inoue also confirmed that fans remain interested in competitive gameplay as well, so the team will continue to develop that in the future, something which fans have gone on to assume is a not so subtle way of confirming an eventual Splatoon 4.
