Star Wars Jedi 3 could finally be getting its first proper reveal, with an incredibly reliable industry insider suggesting that the next chapter of Cal Kestis’ story is already far along in development. EA and Respawn have already confirmed that Star Wars Jedi 3 is in development, but there’s still no footage, release date, or even an official title. That said, the wait for some of those details might be coming to an end.
The original Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order launched in 2019, introducing players to Cal Kestis, a young Jedi attempting to survive following the events of Order 66. Its success led to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in 2023, which expanded on the original game’s exploration, lightsaber combat, and storytelling. However, the sequel also left plenty of room for another adventure, and fans could get their first glimpse soon.
Star Wars Jedi 3 is Far in Development, Disney Has More Plans Too
Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier has now stated that Star Wars Jedi 3 is much further along than some players might expect. Specifically, Schreier said the game “should be officially announced soon” and that “Jedi 3 is far in development; Battlefront 3 hasn’t even started yet.” The comments are particularly noteworthy following reports that EA chose to invest in a new Star Wars Battlefront game and canceled Mass Effect 5 as a result. However, Schreier’s remarks suggest that Star Wars Jedi 3 is progressing separately, as it is further along, and isn’t being pushed aside by EA’s other plans.
While EA and Respawn remain tight-lipped, it’s worth mentioning that Disney has also offered some encouraging comments about the future of Cal Kestis. Earlier in 2026, a Disney representative spoke with GameRant about the character’s future beyond the existing Star Wars Jedi games. While the representative didn’t reveal any specific projects, they made it clear that Disney has more planned for Cal Kestis, stating:
“We’ve got more Cal stories coming.”

Disney’s comments might raise some questions around the threequel, especially since Cal’s story is expected to conclude with Star Wars Jedi 3. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean the character will disappear from Star Wars entirely. There’s been speculation about Cal potentially appearing in a live-action series or movie, particularly since Cameron Monaghan, who plays the character, has previously expressed interest in the possibility. Of course, nothing in that regard is confirmed right now.
With Star Wars Jedi 3 reportedly well into development and Disney continuing to discuss Cal Kestis’ future, there’s plenty of reason to believe that more news is coming soon. For now, fans will have to see whether EA decides to reveal the final chapter of Cal’s trilogy before the end of 2026. After ZCOM and Galactic Racer, though, expectations are even higher for Jedi 3 to continue the hot streak of recent Star Wars games.
