- Stardew Valley fans want the playable farmer to celebrate their birthday, like NPCs in town do.
- Players can befriend NPCs in Stardew Valley and give gifts on their birthdays for relationship boosts.
- Suggestions for a farmer’s birthday party include surprise gatherings at the saloon with friends and potential gifts.
Stardew Valley fans are pointing out that the playable farmer doesn’t get to celebrate their birthday like the NPCs in town. Stardew Valley players are suggesting how that could change in a future update, if ConcernedApe chose to add it.
Every character the player can make friends with has an established birthday, which is noted on the calendar in town. Giving Stardew Valley NPCs gifts on their birthdays gets a special response, and boosts relationships a lot more than gifting on any other day. However, while the player can spend years of their character’s life on the farm, the same can’t be said for their special day.

Stardew Valley Fan Shares Weird Discovery About Leah
A Stardew Valley player discovers that Leah does something strange in comparison to all the other NPCs in Pelican Town.
Stardew Valley fan Kokomo-Olive530 started a conversation with the game’s subreddit, discussing how the farmer doesn’t get to celebrate their birthday like everyone else. Numerous fans seem to think that this is an oversight and want it to be added to the game at some point. Opinions range on how far the game should take it, but there were a lot of good ideas shared.
What Would a Stardew Valley Farmer Birthday Look Like?
One of the most common suggestions is that the townsfolk should throw a party for the farmer. Players have suggested that it could be a surprise, with an NPC the player has established a relationship with coming to tell them to meet them somewhere like the Pelican Town Stardrop Saloon at a specific time. This would reveal a surprise party with all of the player’s friends there, with the potential for gifts and a special relationship boost with the attending NPCs. As the player’s in-game parents also send mail from time to time, it would also be a good idea to have them acknowledge the player’s special day.
While celebrating the player’s birthday would be a great addition to the game, some players have pointed out that there are other missed important dates, too. For example, the player gets to have a wedding ceremony if they propose to a Stardew Valley bachelor or bachelorette, but there’s no anniversary of the date ever mentioned, even by the player’s own spouse.
ConcernedApe could always add this as a feature in a future Stardew Valley update, but the decision is ultimately up to him. For players who are hung up on the idea and want something now, there are mods that add the option to have a birthday that the townsfolk celebrate. However, fans on consoles won’t be able to make use of the mod, so there’s likely to still be some players left wanting.
