Grave Seasons, an upcoming cozy farming sim with a murder mystery twist, has revealed an extensive range of customization options, including a wide selection of skin tones, unique hairstyles, and colorful palettes for outfits. Many have compared Grave Seasons to Stardew Valley, as it shares many of that game’s staple features. However, its visuals stand apart, with an art style more reminiscent of games like the upcoming Witchbrook.
Grave Seasons was recently featured on the Future Games Show, where its narrative director, Emmett Nahil, discussed some of its features. According to Nahil, the game includes an extensive branching storyline intertwined with Grave Seasons‘ over 30 NPCs, with each playthrough leading players into a new horror-infused murder mystery and farming simulation experience. It is also said that the narrative spans over 300,000 words, showcasing just how in-depth the story will be. Alongside these details, the developer has now also shared a first look at some of the customization options for the protagonist.

Stardew Valley has inspired a ton of great farm sims over the past decade, and this upcoming game features a fun vampire twist.
Grave Seasons Has Dozens of Character Customization Options
In a short tweet, developer Perfect Garbage revealed a look at Grave Seasons‘ outfits along with customizable face and body features. Fans also got a glimpse of small details like hair bounce animations, as well as how color palettes can alter outfits throughout the game. According to the developer, there will be 35 unique wearable items, 33 hair colors, 25 skin tone options, 18 hairstyles, and 14 clothing color patterns. This follows a recent tease that the Stardew Valley-like cozy farming sim will feature over 600 discoverable items, with the team emphasizing that Grave Seasons is set to be “big.”

One thing to remember is that Grave Seasons is among the indie Steam games that are fully handcrafted, and creating the different looks now teased for launch has not exactly been the easiest part of development. Apparently, these outfits need to be designed from multiple angles, since Grave Seasons is an isometric game with shifting camera perspectives, and they also need to align with character animations across various cutscenes, including romantic moments shared with NPCs. Perfect Garbage says, “Each wearable item is animated into 70+ sprite sheets, which are implemented as over 400 animations that can trigger throughout the game.”
Grave Seasons also recently shared some disappointing news with fans. According to Perfect Garbage’s June 5 announcement, the game will no longer receive a pre-release free demo, which was initially teased during the Future Games Show 2026 and planned for June 15. The team explained that the decision will allow developers to focus on the final release and ensure the final product is as polished as possible across all platforms.
Those who are enticed by Grave Seasons‘ pixel art and gameplay can wishlist it on Steam, the PlayStation Store, and the Xbox Store. It is also set to launch on Nintendo Switch, although there is currently no eShop page available. As for the release date, Perfect Garbage has pushed the launch to Fall 2026 to give the team more time to finalize development. However, the studio is expected to share an exact release date with fans soon.
In March 2026, Grave Seasons crossed 400,000 wishlists across all platforms.
