Stardew Valley Player Tries to Enter Women’s Locker Room and Gets a Surprise

Stardew Valley Player Tries to Enter Women’s Locker Room and Gets a Surprise

Even as Stardew Valley readies to celebrate its 10th Anniversary on February 27, players are continuing to share new discoveries and fun moments from the game, including one unsuspecting fan who received a major shock when their in-game character attempted to enter the women’s locker room at the Spa and was promptly denied entry for being male. This is far from the first time that a Stardew Valley player has had the unfortunately humorous experience of realizing they made the wrong selection during the initial character creation, and the game’s online community has once again joined forces to share in the amusement of the adorably harmless situation.

When Stardew Valley first released in 2016, many players appreciated being given a choice between a male and female playable main character, along with a variety of clothing options. Over the years, many of the updates to Stardew Valley have included more customization features for the farmhouse, homestead, and player character, as well as the introduction of hats for pets and other aesthetic content additions. With so many options to choose from, it should come as no surprise that some fans get distracted by deciding their outfit and unknowingly set off on a playthrough as the “wrong” gender.

ConcernedApe Gives Official Statement on Stardew Valley 2

Stardew Valley creator Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone unveils the surprising truth behind the possibility of a direct sequel to the beloved farming sim.

What Happens if You Choose a Male Character in Stardew Valley?

Reddit user Top_Independence2042 shared a pair of hilarious screenshots showing their farmer character with long braided auburn hair being denied entry into the women’s locker room section of the Spa in Stardew Valley. The first shows the dialogue box informing them of their inability to go into the women’s side of the Spa, while the second snapshot shows their farmer’s deadpan stare directly at the camera in absolute disbelief. Prior to attempting to enter this portion of the Spa, Top_Independence2042 had no idea that they had accidentally selected the male farmer character, making the abrupt notice from the game quite a surprise. They were good-humored about the mix-up, though, and fellow players quickly chimed in to share tales of their own unintentional jaunts as either gender and even shared tips about being able to change the player character’s gender with the help of the Wizard.

For those unfamiliar, after achieving four friendship hearts with the Wizard in Stardew Valley, players can enter the basement of his tower and interact with the Shrine of Illusions, which allows users to change their character’s name, appearance, favorite thing, and even gender for the low cost of 500 gold. While the build up to four friendship hearts can take a bit of time, the ability to change key details about the player character, as well as subsequent quests, cutscenes, and story moments, make it worthwhile for players to become friendly with the Wizard. The other denizens of Pelican Town offer their own benefits after certain friendship heart levels have been achieved, making NPC interactions one of the key gameplay elements for players to explore and enjoy.

Considering the extensive features already included in Stardew Valley, many have been surprised to hear that even more changes will be coming to the iconic farming life-sim. The game’s developer, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, confirmed that Stardew Valley Update 1.7 will be the next big patch following the highly-praised Update 1.6, and fans are excitedly waiting to hear more details about what content will be on the way. Whether any more character customization options will be included in Update 1.7 remains to be seen, but fans have long been asking for a more diverse array of clothing and hairstyle options, along with possible new pronoun choices. Interested players will want to stay tuned for any official announcements on what Update 1.7 will bring to Stardew Valley, along with other news on ConcernedApe’s Haunted Chocolatier and related projects from his development team.
