Steam is Getting a Brand-New Hades 2-Like Game on August 11, and It Has a Unique Feature

Steam is Getting a Brand-New Hades 2-Like Game on August 11, and It Has a Unique Feature

The success of Hades 2 has shown that there is still a massive audience for roguelikes (or roguelites) that combine fast-paced combat, constant upgrades, and an overall “just one more run” game design. There are plenty of games like Hades 2 on the market that hit these points, yet offer little more in terms of unique features. That’s not the case for a new Steam game confirmed for release on August 11, as it has a unique feature that gives players more control over their roguelite gameplay loop.

The appeal of the modern roguelite/roguelike comes from experimentation. Games like Hades 2 have built their identity around learning enemy patterns, unlocking new abilities, and creating powerful builds that change every run. Upcoming Steam game Echoes of Mystralia appears to be chasing that same feeling, but its biggest selling point and most unique feature is a spell-crafting system designed around giving players almost complete control over their magical arsenal.

Echoes of Mystralia Hits Steam on August 11

After surpassing 175,000 Steam wishlists, developer Borealys Games has confirmed that Echoes of Mystralia will launch in Steam Early Access on August 11, 2026. The roguelite action RPG on Steam takes place in the same universe as Mages of Mystralia and follows a Watcher tasked with protecting the Cycle of Memories from a mysterious rift threatening to consume Mystralia itself.

The biggest feature separating Echoes of Mystralia from other roguelites is its spell creation system. Players collect “Memories” throughout their journey and use them to build custom spells based around elements like fire, ice, and lightning. The system allows for millions of possible combinations, with the positioning of spell components directly impacting how abilities function. Instead of simply picking up preset weapons and upgrades like most roguelite games on Steam, players can constantly experiment to create their own magical playstyle.

At launch, the Steam Early Access release will include a large amount of content for players to explore. Echoes of Mystralia will feature 110 Memories, 3 regions, 3 Guardians, and 12 spell forms to use during runs. The adventure centers on the Azimuth Temple, a hub where players can unlock new skills, adjust their builds, and learn more about the world before heading back into dangerous encounters.

While Echoes of Mystralia still has to prove itself in a crowded roguelite market, its focus on creativity could help it stand apart. Hades 2 has raised expectations for what these games can deliver, especially when it comes to combat variety and replayability. With its spell-focused gameplay, fast action, and emphasis on player-made builds, Borealys Games is hoping Echoes of Mystralia can offer something different when it enters Early Access on Steam this August.
