Steam Makes 5 Games 100% Free Until June 22, Plus a Bonus Freebie

Steam‘s latest free-to-play weekend promotion includes five notable games, among them Dead by Daylight and Stellaris, which players can download and play for free until June 22. Steam regularly offers two types of giveaways: free-to-keep promotions, which let users claim a game at a 100% discount and keep it permanently, and free-to-play promotions, which provide temporary access to paid games at no cost.

While Steam users wait for July’s first batch of free games, they can take advantage of the storefront’s latest promotion, which offers access to five titles, including some of the most acclaimed games released over the past decade.

PC Gamers Have Until June 30 to Claim Horror Game Completely Free of Charge

If PC users with a fondness for horror are quick enough, they’ll be able to snag a disturbing first-person game completely free of charge.

Until June 22, Steam users can play the following games for free: Stellaris, Two Point Museum, Dead by Daylight, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, and Speedball. All five titles are also discounted throughout the promotion and for a few days afterward, giving players the opportunity to pick up their favorites at a reduced price. For those unsure where to start, the breakdowns below provide more information on each game, including links, ratings, and average playtime, to help determine which free Steam game is worth checking out.

Stellaris

Developed by the renowned studio behind popular grand strategy games like Crusader Kings and Hearts of Iron, Stellaris is a deep sci-fi strategy game centered on space exploration and galactic conquest. Players lead a spacefaring civilization as they explore, expand, and compete for dominance across a procedurally generated galaxy. Although it was released nearly a decade ago, Stellaris has accumulated a vast amount of content over the years, meaning its free-to-play weekend will likely offer only a glimpse of everything the game has to offer.

  • Release Date: May 9, 2016
  • Genre: Strategy, 4X, Sci-Fi
  • Developer: Paradox Development Studio
  • Overall rating: 84% positive
  • Can you beat it before the free-to-play promotion ends? With roughly 400 hours of content available, fully completing the game is virtually impossible during the limited-time free-access period.
  • Price and discount information: $49.99 → $14.99 (Until June 25)
  • Steam Link: Play Stellaris for free on Steam until June 22 at 10:00 AM

Two Point Museum

“Design, manage, and develop a quirky museum.” That’s the core premise of Two Point Museum, a cozy business simulation game released in 2025 by Two Point Studios and SEGA. Players can jump into a sandbox mode to build their ideal museum and fill it with a wide variety of exhibits and artifacts. They can also send expedition teams to distant locations in search of valuable relics, which can then be displayed to attract more visitors and grow their museum’s reputation.

  • Release Date: March 4, 2025
  • Genre: Casual, City Builder, Simulation, Management
  • Developer: Two Point Studios
  • Overall rating: 95% Positive
  • Can you beat it before the free-to-play promotion ends? As a sandbox management game, Two Point Museum offers well over 100 hours of content, while completing its main objectives alone can take around 50 hours. As a result, fully experiencing everything the game has to offer during the limited-time promotion would be a challenge.
  • Price and discount information: $29.99 → $20.09 (Until June 25)
  • Steam Link: Play Two Point Museum for free on Steam until June 22 at 10:00 AM.

Dead by Daylight

As an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, Dead by Daylight pits a team of survivors against a single player-controlled killer. The survivors must work together to escape, while the killer’s objective is to hunt down and eliminate them before they can get away. Like Stellaris, Dead by Daylight recently celebrated its tenth anniversary and teased a wealth of new content planned for the near future. With so much happening around the game, this may be the perfect time for horror fans to jump in and see what has kept Dead by Daylight popular for a decade.

  • Release Date: Jun 14, 2016

It shares some similarities with games like ACE Combat, though instead of piloting a fighter jet, players step into the cockpit of a towering battle mech equipped with advanced weapons and missile systems. It also includes a career mode for those who want to continue piloting giant robots in nonstop combat without interruptions from cutscenes.

It centers on a fictional sport seemingly influenced by handball, where players can perform parkour moves and use physical tackles to outplay opponents and score. The game includes a variety of modes, such as local and online co-op, competitive multiplayer, and single-player matches.

  • Release Date: October 29, 2024 (early access)
  • Genre: Sports, Simulation, Co-Op, Action
