Steam Refunds Player With 470 Hours in Battlefield 6

Steam Refunds Player With 470 Hours in Battlefield 6

If a recent Reddit post is to be believed, then a Battlefield 6 player has just managed to get a full refund on Steam despite having put 470 hours into the shooter since launch. This Redditor’s refund request comes after several game modes were recently removed from Battlefield 6.

When Battlefield 6 launched in October 2025, it released alongside eight unique game modes. One of these game modes was Rush, a smaller-scale, more fast-paced mode that’s been a favorite among fans since its introduction in 2008’s Battlefield: Bad Company. Rush wasn’t perfect out of the gate, however. During Battlefield 6‘s Open Beta weekend in August 2025, EA acknowledged that Rush mode had some serious balancing issues, with the objective timer for exploding an MCOM being far too long, thus favoring the defending team. These issues were largely resolved by the game’s launch, and Rush has gone on to be a core part of Battlefield 6‘s multiplayer. That is until its sudden removal on August 4.

Battlefield 6 Player Gets a Full Refund After 470 Hours

On August 7, Reddit user ExplorEverythingOnce posted on the r/Battlefield subreddit, claiming that they’d just been given a full refund on their purchase of Battlefield 6‘s Phantom Edition on Steam. This post has gained quite a bit of traction over the weekend as the Redditor claims they received this refund after having put 470 hours into the game since its October 2025 launch. Given that Steam’s usual refund policy is to only offer refunds on products that have been purchased in the last 14 days and have been played for less than two hours, this post has turned a lot of heads.

In their original post, the Redditor explains their reasoning for the refund claim, citing the recent removal of modes like King of the Hill, Squad Deathmatch, and most importantly, Rush, which is the mode the user reportedly had the “most time in by far.” These game modes were removed rather suddenly as part of Battlefield 6‘s 1.4.1.5 update on August 4, with the official Battlefield social media accounts stating this was done to “improve matchmaking quality by focusing players into the playlists seeing the most activity.”

Following the removal of these modes, ExplorEverythingOnce contacted Steam support and explained the situation, linking the agent to the official Battlefield website and the Community Broadcast that confirmed the removal of Rush. According to the Redditor, the Steam agent “agreed that wasn’t right,” and allowed a full refund of the $109.24 that the user originally paid on launch day for Battlefield 6‘s Phantom Edition.

Naturally, the replies to this Reddit post were initially very skeptical, with Steam famously having a better refund system than console storefronts, but still a fairly strict one. Replying to the skeptics, ExplorEverythingOnce stated that they’ve been a Steam customer for 22 years and have 2,500 games on their account, and that they’ve only ever requested a refund once before. The Redditor also provided a screenshot of their purchase history, showing the refund for Battlefield 6 on August 7.
