Steam Users Have Until December 30 to Claim Free Game With ‘Mostly Positive’ Reviews

PC gamers on Steam have been treated to all kinds of free games this month, with the latest being Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga. Steam may not have its own version of the Epic Games Store free mystery game giveaway, but that hasn’t stopped various publishers from giving away free games on the platform this holiday season.

Some of the free Steam games given away this month include the likes of Rat Quest and The Deed: Dynasty, both of which were free on the platform until around noon on December 25. Rat Quest, The Deed: Dynasty, and other free Steam games from earlier this month are no longer available, but PC gamers now have a new freebie to claim.

PC Gamers are in for a Bumpy Ride: Micron Says RAM Shortage Could Last Beyond 2026

Micron suggests that the ongoing RAM shortage could extend well into 2026 and even beyond as demand continues to eat up the available supply.

Current List of Free Steam Games

From now until December 30 at 12:00pm CST, Steam users can claim Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga absolutely free of charge. The game normally costs $1.99, so it’s not a particularly massive savings, but free is free. It’s worth noting that Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga has earned a “Mostly Positive” rating from Steam users, so if you are a fan of platformers, it’s something you will definitely want to add to your Steam library.

Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga is an old-school side-scrolling platformer that was originally released in 2016. In typical platformer fashion, players have to collect items as they traverse the game world, avoiding obstacles and defeating enemies that get in their way. The caveman gimmick gives Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga a unique identity that helps it stand out from many other games in the genre, and while its graphics are a little rough, the positive reviews speak for themselves. Again, anyone interested in claiming Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga for free has until December 30 at 12:00pm CST to do so.

Caveman World Isn’t the Only Free PC Game Available Right Now

Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga is one of two free Steam games that are available at the time of this writing. Also up for grabs is Undercroft Warriors, a retro-inspired twin-stick shooter with a striking black and white art style. Undercroft Warriors is free for a little longer than Caveman World, with PC gamers able to keep it forever as long as they claim it by December 31 at 12:00pm CST.

Those willing to venture outside of Steam have even more free games to claim. The Epic Games Store daily free mystery game promotion is set to run through the end of the month, with the current freebie none other than co-op puzzle game We Were Here Together. We Were Here Together is one of those rare co-op games that you absolutely must play with a partner, so be sure to tell a friend to claim it as well.

We Were Here Together will be free on the Epic Games Store until December 27 at 10:00am CST. At that point, it will be cycled out and replaced by the December 27 free game. We have no idea what exactly the December 27 free game will be, but PC gamers should keep an eye out for more information on that front.
