Steam Users Have Until February 24 to Claim 2020 Platformer Completely Free Of Charge

Steam users can currently grab the 2020 hardcore platformer BROTHER!!! Save him! without paying a cent. Gamers who want to add this title to their Steam libraries need to act quickly, as the free promotion is set to expire on February 24.

PC gamers on Steam have been enjoying plenty of free promotions lately. The platform has been holding regular free-to-keep promotions, giving users a way to expand their game libraries without spending any money. Gamers are under no obligation to actually play these games immediately, so it’s a good method of building a backlog of titles to try in the future. Many users also head to the Epic Games Store for more well-known free PC games, thanks to its weekly giveaway. By comparison, Steam giveaways often involve indie titles looking to build an audience, which can, in many cases, lead to more experimental and unique games. It’s also worth noting that taking advantage of these free promotions will also contribute towards Steam’s game collector badges, making them well worth grabbing while they’re available.

New Steam Game Looks Like Pentiment Meets Gothic Horror

A brand-new, genre-blending roguelite announced for Steam has a beautifully hand-drawn aesthetic, with a gothic horror twist.

Current Free Steam Games

Gamers can head to the Steam store and claim BROTHER!!! Save him! for free, a hardcore platformer released back in 2020 as the debut title from indie developer TakeThem.Games. The game’s Steam description describes it as “a hardcore 2D-platformer in retro style,” featuring some very cool pixel art. BROTHER!!! Save him! boasts over 20 levels and “formidable bosses,” which contribute to what is described as “interesting, addictive, and fun gameplay.” There are 11 Steam achievements for players to earn, which could be good for PC gamers who consider themselves completionists.

Right now, many of the Steam reviews for BROTHER!!! Save him! are mixed. One positive review says, “The game is not as hard as it says it is,” yet still describes it as a fun time. Another positive review described it as “a brutal platformer where every death teaches you to play better.” These brutal platformers designed to be frustrating have been around for a long time now, such as the notorious I Wanna Be the Guy. Some reviews of BROTHER!!! Save him! do mention IWBTG in both positive and negative terms.

Gamers looking to claim BROTHER!!! Save him! for free on Steam can’t wait too long. The latest free giveaway is set to end on February 24. Afterward, it will return to its full price of $2.99. While not massively expensive in the first place, it’s always better to get a game for free. Since the start of this free Steam promotion, BROTHER!!! Save him! has smashed its all-time peak concurrent player count. Over 200 concurrent players have jumped on to try the game after the giveaway, finally helping it find an audience almost six years after its release.

Gamers willing to venture outside of Steam have other free titles to claim right now. The Epic Games Store currently has two free games until February 26, with two more to come afterward. It’s further proof that users don’t have to spend tons of money to build up a solid library of games. Outside of free-to-keep promotions, Steam also has an increasingly large selection of free-to-play titles for gamers to take advantage of, with more being added every single day.
