Steam users have until June 28 at 11 am PT/2 pm ET to claim a 2022 horror game spin-off of the Five Nights at Freddy‘s franchise that has accumulated tons of positive reviews online. As part of Steam’s Free-to-Keep Promotion, users can permanently add this game to their digital libraries as long as they claimed it before that date.

The sheer quality of the game is remarkable, however. Steam’s Free-to-Keep Promotion often has some solid hidden gems, but sometimes they are on the lower end quality-wise. This one clearly isn’t, and while it’s not normally the most expensive game on Steam, saving $5 on it (its typical retail value) is still $5. That’s not quite lunch, but it could hopefully put a dent in lunch at the very least.

Steam Users Have Limited Time to Claim New Multiplayer Game 100% Free

A limited-time promotion lets Steam users claim a brand-new free multiplayer game before it transitions to a paid model.

Download FNAF Spin-Off POPGoes Arcade Completely Free of Charge

POPGoes Arcade is free to claim, download, and keep in digital libraries as long as it is claimed before June 28 at 11 am PT/2 pm ET (available at the link above). POPGOES Arcade is a retro-style action game set in the Five Nights at Freddy‘s fan universe, but it plays nothing like a traditional FNAF game. Players control Popgoes as he battles waves of enemies across colorful pixel-art levels, collecting upgrades, unlocking new abilities, and taking on increasingly difficult bosses. The fast-paced combat and roguelike gameplay might surprise fans of the wider franchise, but it is a spin-off, and there’s still plenty of scares alongside its various FNAF references.

POPGOES Arcade has earned an 96% Overwhelmingly Positive reception on Steam (with 1400+ reviews), with players praising its polished gameplay, charming pixel-art presentation, and strong gameplay loop. Many reviews highlight how successfully it stands on its own despite its Five Nights at Freddy’s roots, delivering on everything expected of the arcade elements and the spooks. The biggest criticism is that the adventure can feel relatively short, but most players agree the game’s low price, replay value, and post-game content more than make up for it. And sometimes you just want to play a short game on Steam. POPGoes Arcade isn’t for everyone, however, and there’s one more title currently available on Steam’s Free-to-Keep Promotion.

Another Steam Free-to-Keep Game is Currently Available

Steam users can claim Tell Me Why for free until July 1—the LGBT-forward episodic narrative adventure game from Dontnod. In it, twins return home to Alaska and explore their childhood memories thanks to their supernatural powers. IT also has positive reviews, so if someone is interested in both, there’s no reason not to add them to digital libraries right now.

Right now, Steam’s Free-to-Keep list has two games listed for July, so fans should be sure to avoid purchasing them now and wait for them to his this promotion: The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante and Yet Another Zombie Defense HD.
