Steam users can pick up and try the 8-player co-op game Parkitect completely free of charge until March 9. Although Parkitect is only free-to-play for a few more days, it also offers a steep discount for a period after that, giving players the chance to grab it permanently at a low price if they enjoy its free offering.
Parkitect is a theme park builder game in the vein of classics like Rollercoaster Tycoon. The game spent two years in Early Access before fully launching in 2018. Initially a PC exclusive, it would finally make its way to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in 2024. According to developer Texel Raptor, Parkitect is “bringing back the best of classic theme park games with many new features and content on top.” Arguably its biggest selling point is the addition of 8-player co-op, which allows players to design their theme parks alongside friends, a unique take on the genre. With a Top Critic Average of 82 on the review aggregator site OpenCritic, Parkitect is seen as a game well worth trying.

Parkitect is Free-To-Play Until March 9 on Steam, and Some of Its DLC is Free-to-Keep
Gamers can head to Steam right now and install Parkitect for free. The promotion is available until March 9, giving players a few days to try it out and decide whether they like it enough to buy it permanently after this date. Although Parkitect‘s free-to-play period ends soon, the game is also available at a 66% discount until March 13, bringing the co-op Steam theme park simulator down to just $10.19. During this free-to-play period, users can also claim Parkitect‘s Booms & Blooms expansion for free. This is free-to-keep, meaning that anyone who chooses to buy the base game after the free-to-play period has expired will still have access to this expansion. Unfortunately, this doesn’t apply to the Taste of Adventure and Dinos & Dynasties DLCs, which are both still available at a discount until March 13.

The game’s Steam reviews are currently marked as being “Very Positive,” with 94% of the user reviews being positive. Some reviews highlight the similarities to other theme park simulator games, which make jumping into Parkitect feel extremely natural. Many of the reviews are from players with hundreds of hours in the game, indicating that there’s a lot of replay value here for those who want to purchase the game and play it beyond its free-to-play period.
Steam has been offering plenty of free games of late, ranging from free-to-keep giveaways to temporary free-to-play promotions. There is no shortage of new free-to-play games being added to the platform, too, indicating that gamers don’t necessarily have to break the bank to have plenty to play on PC. Those willing to venture outside of Steam can also take advantage of the weekly Epic Games Store free games. Free-to-keep promotions on Steam are often more focused on smaller indie titles, whereas Epic Games Store giveaways will sometimes feature AAA titles. It’s cool to see the kinds of extensive gaming libraries that players can put together, even without spending any money.
