Steam users looking for a game to play this Halloween should consider Spooky Cats for its eerie theme. The game follows a little cat trapped in a strange world. To get home, it must collect pennies and, as the developer hints, save a girl named Penny.

Fanatical is currently hosting a Fall Sale, with the Spooky Cats promotion included in the event. Fans should note that the number of Steam keys is limited, and the offer works on a first come, first served basis. According to Fanatical, it will give away only 50,000 Steam keys for Spooky Cats, so the promotion could end before October 10 if the storefront runs out of keys.

Fanatical’s promotion requires a valid Steam account. This means the account must have spent at least $5 USD, or the equivalent amount, on a successful purchase.
Spooky Cats is a minimalist 2D platformer. But despite its simple design, the game can feel quite challenging at times. The player has limited vision, which makes it hard to plan each move ahead. Hostile creatures also lurk across the map, adding another layer to the platforming. The game also has light combat, with the protagonist able to knock down enemies with a Crash Bandicoot-style spin.
On Steam, Spooky Cats has over 400 user reviews, with more than 80% rated positive at the time of writing. Most players praise its cute visuals and quirky humor, which fit well with its haunted and sinister atmosphere. However, fans should note that Spooky Cats launched in 2015. As an older game, it may not match some modern 2D platformers in certain areas.
Those who don’t want to miss the Spooky Cats promotion should grab their keys as soon as possible. Steam users who enjoy similar promotions should also mark October 28 on their calendars. On that date, Lenovo Legion will give away Steam keys for Doom (2016).
