Steam has officially confirmed a new freebie expected to go live sometime in September 2026 as part of its Free to Keep promotion. Gamers can regularly take advantage of free Steam giveaways, and they have at least one more to look forward to this month.
Most of the time, upcoming games on Steam’s Free to Keep promotion are available to view on SteamDB, but not all of them are published beforehand. Notably, the ongoing Crystal Crisis giveaway was not confirmed and was simply made 100% free overnight with no prior announcement.
According to SteamDB’s upcoming Free to Keep promotions page, Dying Light: The Beast‘s Discharge Weapon Pack will be given away 100% free to players at some point in September 2026. It does not reveal any details beyond this, only that the pack, which costs $4.99 at full price, should be given away completely free of charge at some point this month. The Discharge Weapon Pack includes the Discharge Machete weapon and the VNC Weapon Charm. Not massive, but it’s hard to complain when it’s free.
As well as the Dying Light: The Beast DLC pack, SteamDB also indicates three more Steam freebies coming next month. They are:
- MXGP 26 – Scrubdesignz Liveries
- Gear.Club Unlimited 3 Gear.Club Signature Pack
- Hunting Simulator 3 – Classic American Hunter Pack
Steam’s Free to Keep giveaways are usually focused on full games, so getting a few DLC packs in a short space of time would be a rare surprise. Whether it signals a change in strategy for the promotion remains to be seen.
It’s also worth noting that not every giveaway confirmed for Steam’s Free to Keep promotion actually comes to fruition. Sometimes, developers plan these freebies, but the event never goes live and eventually disappears from SteamDB without a trace. This isn’t the case most of the time, but it does happen occasionally, so while it’s good to use SteamDB to track upcoming free games, it’s important to remember that plans can change behind the scenes for one reason or another.
Dying Light: The Beast is the third entry in Techland’s zombie horror series. Upon its release last year, Dying Light: The Beast received solid reviews, despite initially being planned as a DLC pack for the second game. It saw the return of Kyle Crane, the protagonist of the first game, and with this upcoming Steam free giveaway, it could be a good time to jump back into the action.
