A new rumor circulating the internet indicates that the popular Final Fantasy 7 character, Tifa Lockhart, is going to be joining Street Fighter 6 as a guest character, seemingly beating Bandai Namco to the punch. Street Fighter 6 continues to be a major success for Capcom and, as expected, the company is keeping the game thriving with a mix of free events and content as well as premium additions through seasonal content.

In fact, Season 3 for Street Fighter 6 has been a mix between nostalgia and new, with Capcom choosing to bring back fan favorite characters like Alex, C. Viper, and Sagat. However, the final character of Season 3, Ingrid, is a bit of a mystery. Originally part of the canceled Capcom FIghting All-Stars, she later made her debut in the largely disliked Capcom Fighting Evolution and later as part of Street Fighter 3 MAX. Ingrid is said to be an exceptionally powerful character, a fact hinted at in her World Tour trailer for Street Fighter 6, speaking in riddles and opening what appeared to be a portal to other dimensions for the main character. Either way, it doesn’t appear that Capcom intends to stop adding new content and the latest rumor could be the biggest addition yet.

Capcom Addresses Street Fighter 6 Alex Controversy

Capcom currently responds to the heated feedback regarding Alex’s unexpected new narrative in the Street Fighter 6 playable cast.

Street Fighter 6 Season 4 May Add Tifa Lockhart

In a now deleted post on Reddit, a user named RnK_Clan has outed the content of Season 4. According to them, Season 4 will be featuring the likes of Vega, Gouken, Mike Haggar from Final Fight, and the most surprising addition, Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy 7. While the news should be taken with a grain of salt, it is worth mentioning that the information originated from someone who previously indicated Terry, Elena, and Bision would be added as DLC during Season 2, which has obviously come to pass. It’s also worth considering that this could be fake information leaked by Capcom to throw off dataminers, something which the company has done before. It’s likely that a new trailer will be revealed at Summer Game Fest, which Capcom has previously done.

It isn’t the first connection that the popular Final Fantasy character has had to a fighting game franchise. For a long while, it was heavily suggested and rumored that Tifa would be a Tekken 8 guest character, though to this specific point in time, that hasn’t come to pass yet, which continues to enrage many fans. While it will likely make things a bit awkward if she is added to Street Fighter 6 first, Tekken fans would likely still be waiting a long time as Bandai Namco has already confirmed 3 of the 4 planned characters for Season 3. Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr are set to be added throughout each season in 2026, with a surprise character planned to arrive sometime during Winter, so if Tifa Lockhart really was in the plans, it wouldn’t be until 2027 at the earliest.

While the Street Fighter series has traditionally been resistant to adding guest characters from other IPs to the roster, preferring to stick to familiar fighters instead, things began changing towards the back half of Street Fighter 5 when Akira from Rival Schools joined during Season 5. Things were then pushed even further for Street Fighter 6 when Capcom revealed the additions of SNK characters Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui as Season 2 DLC.

In fact, SNK then returned the favor by adding Chun-Li and Ken Masters to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as DLC fighters, seemingly sparking a revived friendship between both companies. Alongside further collaborations through DLC in both games, new rumors have also started that a possible Capcom vs SNK 3 could be in development.
