Studio Behind NFT Battle Royale Game Accused Of Not Paying Staff For Months

Gunzilla, a video game developer and publisher best known for its NFT-filled third-person battle royale game Off the Grid, has been accused by multiple current and former employees of not paying staff for months and of ghosting people trying to get the money they are owed.

On April 7, as reported by Insider Gaming, Anna Savina, who previously worked as the head of talent acquisition at Gunzilla, posted on LinkedIn that she was owed multiple months of salary after dedicating “three years of my professional life” to Gunzilla. She claims to have been ignored by Gunzilla despite reaching out multiple times to leadership at the studio.

“I’m not the only one,” claimed Savina. “I know many talented colleagues who are in the same ‘fog’. We’re not asking for bonuses; we’re demanding what we have earned.”

Former Gunzilla Senior VFX Animator Paul Creamer also claimed on LinkedIn that he was owed months of pay after allegedly working without receiving any checks for an extended period of time in late 2025.

“I foolishly worked for 3 extra months (October, November, and December) with assurances that delays in payment would be resolved,” posted Creamer. “Upper management promised that these delays were temporary and growing pains tied to being a new company with a new game. In December, the CEO himself (Vlad Korolev) had a call with my department where he promised us that invoices would be paid as soon as possible, that the company was profitable, and that we were all doing the right thing by keeping quiet and continuing to work.”

However, those invoices were allegedly never paid, and now Creamer, Savina, and others are claiming that Gunzilla is screwing them out of wages.

Other Gunzilla employees claim they are owed money

“They also owe me 3 months of salary,” claimed animator Rayan Tiraghan, who appears to be working at the studio as a contractor, in the comments below Savina’s post.

“Same here,” replied current Gunzilla QA dev Vladyslav Makarevych in the comments. “Working there for almost a year now, and last salary I got was in September. Half a year without salary during wartime isn’t exactly what I was hoping for. No clear communication, ignoring all questions, and recently changing the registration of the company and revoking access to mail and Jira. Wonder if we’re ever getting paid for all of this trouble.”

“The same here, but after more then 5 years of working at the company,” claimed concept artist Andrew Snitsar. “Never experienced anything like it before. I trusted their promises because we were ‘family’ and now they owe me 5 months’ worth of salary. What a shame, can’t believe I was so dumb.”

And these are just some of the replies from former and current Gunzilla developers and staff claiming to be owed months and months of unpaid salary. Plenty more can be found on LinkedIn, where people are posting that they, too, are allegedly owed money.

Kotaku has contacted Gunzilla for more information.

In October 2024, Gunzilla launched battle royale shooter Off the Grid in early access on consoles and PC. The game supports the ability for players to buy and sell NFTs using cryptocurrency via the blockchain; however, these features are blocked on console and Steam. Only the Epic Store version of the lackluster shooter supports the full NFT system. In March 2025, Gunzilla purchased Game Informer and started the outlet back up after GameStop shut it down in 2024. Gunzilla has maintained that Game Informer is “completely editorially independent” from the rest of the studio.
