Debuting all the way back in 1998, the Mario Party series is one of Nintendo’s most prolific, with seven spinoffs and 11 mainline entries currently under its belt, and another one well on the way. Announced during a very packed recent Nintendo Direct, Super Mario Party Jamboree looks like it has the potential to be one of the best Mario Party entries in recent memory.
It’s still much too early to make any true judgment call, but Super Mario Party Jamboree‘s first trailer offers some cause for excitement. Boasting an absurd number of minigames, an impressive number of boards, and a ton of playable characters to pick from, Super Mario Party Jamboree looks like it’s shaping up to be the complete package, with Nintendo itself touting the game as “The biggest Mario Party yet” during its announcement trailer. This grandiose approach is something the series has needed for a while now, and hopefully, it’s an approach that Nintendo continues to use for future entries.

Super Mario Party Jamboree’s Content Should Be the New Norm for the Series
Super Mario Party Jamboree is “The Biggest Mario Party Yet”
Set to release on October 17, 2024, Super Mario Party Jamboree will be packed to the brim with content from the get-go. Every facet of Super Mario Party Jamboree seems to be going the extra mile, providing fans with more content than any previous entry. For instance, Super Mario Party Jamboree will contain over 20 playable characters at launch, including staples like Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi, as well as lesser-seen characters like Birdo and Spike. Toad and Toadette are also making their triumphant playable return in Jamboree, having not been playable since Mario Party: Super Rush.
Super Mario Party Jamboree is also going above and beyond when it comes to its boards, with five new stages on launch. Each of these new Super Mario Party Jamboree stages looks to offer a completely distinct experience, and is set in a unique location, from Bowser’s fiery keep to the tropical Goomba Lagoon. Mario’s Rainbow Castle board from the very first Mario Party is being remade for Jamboree alongside Mario Party 2‘s Western Land board.
Of course, Super Mario Party Jamboree is also pulling out of all the stops for its minigames. There will be over 110 minigames in Super Mario Party Jamboree, the highest number of minigames in franchise history. These will include free-for-all challenges, 2v2 games, 1v3 battles, and an array of motion-controlled minigames. Super Mario Party Jamboree‘s announcement trailer also briefly teased an all-new Koopathalon Mode, where up to 20 friends can compete online in special minigame challenges.
Every Mario Party Needs to Be The Biggest Yet
A major criticism of the last few Mario Party entries has been their relatively thin content. While Mario Party Superstars tried to make up for its predecessors’ fewer modes, characters, and minigames, it did so with remade content from past entries, which offered a lot of nostalgic fun but wasn’t the full suite of original Mario Party content that fans were asking for.
Super Mario Party Jamboree, on the other hand, finally offers the complete package. With more playable characters and minigames than ever before, a ton of unique boards for fans to dive into, and even some remade boards from prior entries for nostalgia’s sake, Super Mario Party Jamboree is exactly what the series needed, and it should set the new standard for future entries. Every Mario Party game from this point on should only be released if it can offer “The biggest Mario Party yet.”
