Nintendo Switch 2 owners can get one of 2024’s highest-rated games when it releases on August 20. Developer Sunset Visitor and publisher Fellow Traveller have officially announced that 1000xResist will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 on August 20. This announcement comes after the game was leaked for the console via an ESRB rating last month.
August is already shaping up to be a massive month for Nintendo fans, with the Switch 2 already getting major games like Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered this month. While August might not have any massive first-party Nintendo releases, these third-party games are plenty big enough to fill the void until Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake launch later this year. Now, Switch 2 players can dive into the sci-fi masterpiece 1000xResist in just a few short days.
1000xResist Launching August 20 on Switch 2 with Enhanced Features
Sunset Visitor confirmed that a native Switch 2 version of 1000xResist is launching on August 20, complete with new features for the console’s improved hardware. 1000xResist received critical acclaim when it launched back in 2024, earning a critic score of 90 on OpenCritic and snagging several award nominations for its gripping sci-fi narrative. While the game is already available on Nintendo Switch 1, this Switch 2 version will include improvements to resolution and frame rate to bring it up to par with the PC version.
1000xResist on Switch 2 will have a free upgrade option for owners of the Switch 2 version of the game.

1000xResist is a narrative-driven sci-fi adventure game that follows the story of Watcher, who must uncover the mysteries of her society where an alien virus has wiped out all but one immune and now immortal human, Iris. Watcher and all other members of this new society are clones of Iris, called the ALLMOTHER, but not all is as it seems, and players will need to solve puzzles and make tough choices on their way to discovering the truth about Watcher and the other clones’ existence. The game was praised for its complex storytelling and includes features like:
- Shifting perspectives, both literal and metaphorical, as the game blends between 3rd person adventure, visual novel, and first person walking simulator
- Skipping forward and backward through time using memories to solve puzzles and gain new information
- 15,000 lines of fully voiced dialogue
The Switch 2 is already home to a veritable treasure trove of fantastic sci-fi games, and 1000xResist is the next to join its library. Sci-fi horror adventure game Observer: System Redux released on the Switch 2 back in June, giving Switch 2 owners another acclaimed entry in the genre to play. Other third-party games like Cronos: The New Dawn and Cyberpunk 2077 run smoothly on the Switch 2, making the console a great option for players wanting to play these games portably.
However, it’s not all smooth sailing for sci-fi fans wanting to play enhanced versions of their favorite games portably. The Nintendo Switch 2 is getting a price increase on September 1, bumping the console’s base price from $449.99 to $499.99. Any gamers looking to pick up a Switch 2 to experience its library of compelling sci-fi narrative experiences will want to act fast before this price increase goes into effect next month.
