The Blood of Dawnwalker Permanently Adding Highly Requested Content Next Month

The Blood of Dawnwalker game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz revealed new details about a planned big patch set to arrive sometime in October with a host of new features. It’s been a fantastic few weeks since The Blood of Dawnwalker launched to positive reviews, word of mouth, and a successful release window. It’s clear that the studio has plans to keep that momentum going.

Despite a brand-new IP launching in a very busy time for the gaming industry, The Blood of Dawnwalker has become a big hit for developer Rebel Wolves. Just two days after the game launched, the official Dawnwalker account revealed that the game crossed 1 million copies sold, an impressive feat and a major milestone for the studio. In fact, the studio doubled down on the success by confirming plans to develop sequels to turn the game into a proper franchise. The Blood of Dawnwalker was always intended to be the first part in a series of games, but the success has now seemingly allowed those plans to actually happen. Still, the developer has more plans in store for the first game, revealing what fans can expect from a major patch planned for next month.

The Blood of Dawnwalker Sequels Could Bring Back Controversial Feature

Rebel Wolves co-founder and Blood of Dawnwalker director discusses the future of the series, admitting that a controversial feature could come back.

The Blood of Dawnwalker Teases Details of Big October Update

In a recent interview, The Blood of Dawnwalker game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz confirmed that the studio is working on what he calls a “big patch” slated for release in October. While fans will have to wait closer to release for the full details, Tomaszkiewicz did mention a few of the bigger features that the team are currently working on for the update. While the PC version of Blood of Dawnwalker has been criticized at launch, the studio has released hot fixes and plans to address even more gameplay performance issues in this patch as well.

One of the big pillars of the October patch is tweaks to the game’s difficulty. While The Blood of Dawnwalker has four difficulty options, Rebel Wolves is planning to add a fifth option. This option is planned to be the easiest option available and although it doesn’t have an official name yet, it’ll be replacing Story Mode, which will also be renamed. Tomaszkiewicz revealed the new difficulty will be a mode for those who just want to experience the story without any gameplay or combat. When asked about a New Game Plus option, Tomaszkiewicz confirmed the studio is looking into one but wouldn’t say more on the topic.

As for what else is coming in the update, Tomaszkiewicz admitted that the camera and lock on system are being worked on. The Blood of Dawnwalker reviews mentioned some quirks during combat, such as the game switching targets when using some crowd control abilities. While that was a design choice and not a bug, the studio has heard plenty of feedback about it, so they’re going to change it.

Another change based on player feedback is the idea of making it easier to run from fights, including no longer getting stuck on the environment. Interestingly enough, Rebel Wolves overlooked this element as the team never ran from fights in the game, but watching how some people played showed them that there are other ways people interact with game mechanics. Animals who aggro when a player is using Blood of Dawnwalker‘s “Fast Mode” of wolf form or witch-sprint will give up the chase if they’re unable to hit the player as they run by.
