The Boys Star Jack Quaid "Would Kill" To Be In A BioShock Adaptation

Jack Quaid is interested in being in a BioShock adaptation, and if that sounds familiar, it’s because The Boys star has been campaigning to be in a BioShock project for some time already. Now, he’s reiterated that desire in an interview with Collider, saying, “I would kill to be in a BioShock adaptation.”

He explained that he doesn’t have a preferred character in mind, but he would love to “just be involved in the slightest.” He said BioShock was one of the first “horror games” he ever played, and he singled out the game’s narrative, including the major twist, saying he found the game’s plot to be “incredible.”

“Let’s manifest this,” Quaid said. “Let’s do it.”

Last March, Quaid said BioShock has “such rich lore” and that it would lend itself to a film or TV show. At the time, he said he would “love” to be considered for a part in a BioShock adaptation.

A BioShock movie is in the works at Netflix and it’s apparently planned to release alongside a new entry in the game series. Francis Lawrence, known for his work on the Hunger Games film series, is attached to direct the BioShock movie, with production expected to begin in 2027.

Producer Roy Lee said in 2024 that the BioShock movie at Netflix was scaled back to become a more “personal” film in the wake of the regime change at Netflix that reportedly sought quality over quantity and more manageable budgets.

Although Quaid’s involvement in any future BioShock film or TV project is unconfirmed at this stage, his co-star on The Boys, Karl Urban, will play Johnny Cage in this May’s Mortal Kombat 2. It’s just his latest video game movie, as he starred as John “Reaper” Grimm in 2005’s Doom movie.

Quaid and Urban are two of the leads for Prime Video’s The Boys, which came back for its fifth and final season today, April 9. Episodes 1 and 2 are out now, with the remaining six coming weekly leading up to the season and series finale on May 20.

As for BioShock 4 the game, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has said the game is not dead and will come out “without question.” He offered this assurance to fans in the wake of BioShock 4 undergoing a partial overhaul to improve on key areas. Developer Cloud Chamber also suffered layoffs, with studio head Kelley Gilmore departing and former Diablo boss Rod Fergusson taking over. Some may recall how Fergusson was called in years ago to be a “closer” for BioShock Infinite to help get the game out the door.
