The Dive Launching September 11

Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive has been officially announced, with a start date of September 11. Resident Evil Requiem was released on multiple platforms earlier in 2026, including PlayStation 5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The game places players in the role of returning protagonist Leon S. Kennedy, as well as newcomer Grace Ashcroft. The pair must work together to survive, while attempting to uncover a new mystery.

In a short amount of time, the latest in Capcom’s survival horror series has proven to be a huge success story. Resident Evil Requiem continues to sell very well, breaking franchise records. It hasn’t managed to dethrone the top-selling game in the series just yet, but the pace of game sales suggests that could change at some point in the future.

The Resident Evil Reboot Quietly Promises What Game Fans Have Wanted for Years

Resident Evil fans desperately want a movie that feels like the video games, and they might finally get it with the upcoming reboot.

Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive is an all-new experience at Universal Studios Japan, based on the events of the video game. Running from September 11 through December 27, the event features a recreation of The Wrenwood Hotel. In the game, Grace Ashcroft is an FBI intelligence analyst. The background for the attraction has guests searching for Grace, who went missing during her investigation. Leon will also be featured in the attraction, and there will be plenty of zombies found throughout. Unsurprisingly, this attraction has been rated R-15, as it should offer some intense horror for those in attendance.

Universal theme parks have increasingly leaned on video games for horror attractions over the last few years. Games like Five Nights at Freddy’s have received a big focus at Universal, so it only makes sense that the biggest horror game of 2026 would get a similar treatment. Unfortunately, it seems Resident Evil Requiem: The Dive is currently exclusive to Universal Studios Japan, which means fans hoping to see it in North America might be out of luck.

Luckily, Resident Evil fans in North America have no shortage of ways to celebrate the franchise in the near future. Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil reboot is set to arrive in theaters on September 19, and it promises a story set in the same universe as the video games. The trailers suggest that Cregger is taking some liberties with the source material, but the film will take place during the Raccoon City incident showcased in Resident Evil 2. Capcom also has Resident Evil: Veronica on the way in 2027, which is a video game remake fans have been requesting for several years now.

On top of everything else, there’s also story DLC in the works for Resident Evil Requiem. Capcom has yet to announce when the DLC will be made available, but rumors suggest that it won’t be out until after Resident Evil: Veronica. The base game took players back to the ruins of Raccoon City, and there have been leaks claiming that Spencer Mansion could similarly appear in the DLC for Resident Evil Requiem. Unfortunately, there’s no way of knowing what the developers have planned until there’s some kind of official announcement.
