The Epic Games Store Free Games for December 4 Are Perfect for Introverts and Extroverts

Though many of us are still recovering from that infamous Thanksgiving food coma, the holiday is officially in the rearview mirror once again. That said, the holiday gaming season still has a lot to go, and the upcoming round of Epic Games Store free games ensures you’re equipped to handle a range of social situations this month.

Despite both being almost a decade old now, the Epic Games Store free games for December 4 still hold a lot of value this holiday season. While one of these free EGS games will let you embrace the chaos of family functions this December, the other will let you hide from them completely, delivering a careful balance that’s always needed this time of year.

Epic Games Store Free Games for December 4–11: Jackbox Party Pack 4

The Perfect Game for Holiday Extroverts Who Thrive in Social Settings

  • Released in October 2017
  • Developed by Jackbox Games
  • Retail price: $24.99
  • Top Critic Average on OpenCritic: 78
  • Contains five Jackbox Party games: Fibbage 3, Survive the Internet, Monster Seeking Monster, Bracketeering, and Civic Doodle
  • Most games are designed with 3–8 players in mind

Since 2014, the Jackbox Party Packs have been a staple of countless social gatherings. Just one copy of the game is required, and up to 8 players (sometimes more) can use their mobile devices to hop into a selection of varied and addictive party games, all offering super simple controls, mechanics, and rules that just about anyone can understand, regardless of their gaming skills.

Jackbox Party Pack 4 is one of the Epic Games Store’s free games for December 4, and while it may not be the most renowned edition, it could still come in clutch this holiday season, especially if you’ve got a large family or friend group. Jackbox Party Pack 4 contains five individual party games: Fibbage 3, Survive the Internet, Monster Seeking Monster, Bracketeering, and Civic Doodle.

  • Fibbage is a Jackbox classic, requiring players to answer trivia questions and insert their own deceptive answers.
  • Survive the Internet is a highly satirical rumor-based game.
  • Monster Seeking Monster is a tongue-in-cheek “dating” game.
  • Bracketeering is essentially a tournament version of Quiplash, where the goal is to create the funniest answer.
  • Civic Doodle is a drawing game where players vote on each other’s art.

Just like any Jackbox Party Pack, Party Pack 4 offers a ton of replayability, ensuring that you’ll have at least a few hours of entertainment ready and waiting in the wings this holiday season. It’s great for all the extroverts who want to enjoy the holiday season with friends and family.

Epic Games Store Free Games for December 4–11: The Darkside Detective

The Perfect Game for Holiday Introverts Who Need to Recharge Their Social Battery

  • Released in July 2017
  • Developed by Spooky Doorway
  • Retail price: $14.99
  • Top Critic Average on OpenCritic: 76
  • A point-and-click adventure game set in the city of Twin Lakes
  • A satirical tone with a ton of pop-culture references

Spending time with family and friends can be an incredibly rewarding experience, but even the most extroverted people still need time to recharge their social battery every now and then. For many gamers, there’s no better way to recharge that social battery than by getting lost in a new video game, and The Darkside Detective is perfect for those introverted holiday gaming sessions.

The second free Epic Games Store game for December 4, The Darkside Detective is a point-and-click adventure game with a strong satirical, self-referential tone and a striking pixel art style, the combination of which results in a game that feels like a love letter to classic LucasArts adventure games of the 1990s like The Secret of Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle. Players assume the role of Detective Francis McQueen, a member of the police department’s Darkside Division, a force tasked with investigating the city’s supernatural crimes.

The Darkside Detective was published by Akupara Games, the same publisher behind the November 27 free Epic Games Store game Universe for Sale, another quirky and stylistic point-and-click adventure.

Much like Stranger Things‘ Upside Down, Twin Lakes has its own spooky spirit world reflection of itself, which players explore during the course of nine separate cases. While all The Darkside Detective‘s nine cases are filled with tongue-in-cheek references and funny moments, its ‘Buy Hard’ episode–where Detective McQueen needs to hunt down the Krampus–is particularly perfect for chill solo gaming sessions this holiday.
