The Fighting Game Update Finally Adds Highly Requested Feature

Patch 2.5 has arrived for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game and is packed with new fixes, character updates, and the arrival of a highly anticipated and requested game mode. Released back in July, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game continues to release new updates to add and improve the overall experience, even as fans continue to wait for some of the promised DLC content to arrive.

Getting out ahead of the major fall release season rush due to the arrival of GTA 6 in November, Avatar Legends: The FIghting Game launched to positive reviews from both critics and fans alike. The 1v1 combat was fast and frenetic, while also sporting visuals and animations that looked like they were ripped straight from the animated show itself. However, the game did have some issues and missing features, which developers PM Studios and Gameplay Group International are continuing to address, with the latest update finally giving fans a proper Ranked Mode to battle through.

Avatar Legends Cheat Codes (Unlock Avatar Aang & Nightmare Korra)

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game brings back Cheat Codes, which players can use to unlock Avatar Aang and Nightmare Korra. Here is how you can use it

For most players, the biggest piece of Patch 2.5 is the addition of Ranked Mode for Avatar Legends. This is a feature that fans have been asking for since launch and now, players can now progress up a ranked ladder online for each individual character. Character ranks are given a badge, with everyone starting at Rookie, part of the Beginner Set, which also includes Apprentice and Acolyte. Master Ranks start at Badge 4 and go all the way to 10, which isn’t actually available at the moment, and the devs are not spoiling the badge title. For now, Rank 9 will require more than 1900 Rank Points to earn the title of Chosen.

Ranked matches are a best of 3 out of 5 matches and players won’t be able to switch characters until the set is complete, though supports can be changed mid-set. XP earned is unrelated to rank progress, while rank progress can be won and lost depending on the matches. The mode will continue to evolve over time, though alongside Ranked, Avatar Legends now has a Ragequit penalty system as well, putting those who have a 20% or higher disconnect rate into a separate queue.

Outside of Ranked, Patch 2.5 also makes adjustments to a number of characters, giving Zaheer’s Final Technique updated animations, while also fleshing out Ozai a bit more with added animation frames for a variety of his moves. It stands to reason that the final 3 Avatar Legends launch roster characters, Nightmare Korra and Avatar Aang, will be next in terms of getting more finishing touches similar to Ozai. A number of bugs and issues have been fixed across all characters as well.

The update also comes at a great time as the Xbox Series X/S version of the game is set to launch on September 3, after a last-minute delay of Avatar Legends happened just hours before it was supposed to go live. Naturally, the delay announcement was disappointing for Xbox fans, which was cited due to “unforseen consequences on a backend feature.” The news for Nintendo Switch fans, while slightly better as the game actually did launch, also saw some issues as they’d only be getting the standard version and crossplay wouldn’t be available at launch.

What is Ranked Mode?

  • RANK MATCH: Matches with stakes for ranking. You earn (and can lose) rank standing, and your rank badge is shown to opponents. Rank is automatically a 3 out of 5 set, and characters are locked in until the set is complete.

    • Upon one player “winning” 3 out of 5 Rank Matches in a set, players can continue the set and change characters. Any subsequent matches within this set do not change ranking.
    • XP is completely unrelated to your rank.
  • CASUAL MATCH: The same matchmaking flow as you’ve experienced before this patch. No rank on the line and no badges shown.

What are Rank badges?

Your Character rank is shown as a badge. There are 10 badges you can earn, in two groups:

  1. Beginner ranks (Badges 1-3): earned by doing placement matches. Your score will be calibrated over some number of games (not a fixed number). You start at Rookie, then move to Apprentice when you complete the first third of the matches you need, then move to Acolyte when you reach the second third of the matches you need.
  2. Master ranks (Badges 4-10): Once you are out of placement rounds, you will be assigned a badge based on your rank points for that character. The skill ranges from roughly 1000-2000 rank points. Badge 10 is not accessible right now, ooh mysterious what can it be?!

RAGEQUIT JAIL:

Ragequit jail is implemented! The game puts you in a different queue if your DC rate is over 20%.

What is XP?

XP shows how much you’ve played online! XP does not affect your rank. Rank points can only be accumulated in Ranked Mode.
