The First Berserker: Khazan has been out for one year now, and to mark the occasion, developer Neople has shared some in-game statistics, thanked players in a heartfelt statement, and offered an anniversary loot haul.
Creative director Junho Lee shared his thoughts in a note to the community, stating that the game’s release “feels like just yesterday.” He also notes, “I poured my heart into making Khazan, telling myself that this would be the game I stake my entire career on.” Despite feeling like he had given “every last ounce of energy” to the game’s development, Lee says that the player engagement and feedback have spurred him on to “create something even better.”
To that end, Khazan’s story is far from over. “We’re pouring ourselves into it with genuine excitement, truly hoping from the bottom of our hearts that you’ll love what’s to come,” Lee added. To thank players, developer Neople has granted everyone a first anniversary armor and weapon set. Everyone who has purchased the game, even if you haven’t logged in yet, will receive the Immortal Fury set.
Alongside the gift, Neople has shared some in-game statistics from The First Berserker’s first year. Over the past 12 months, 35% of players chose the normal difficulty, while 40% of players reached the game’s end. One player managed to clear hardcore difficulty–the hardest in the game–in just 130 minutes.
The most fatal bosses in the game have also been announced for various difficulties. On Expert level, Viper claimed the most victims, at a staggering 17.7 million. On the game’s most difficult level, Hardcore mode, Maluca was the most deadly with 206,169 deaths. The total deaths across all Berserkers worldwide so far is 273.8 million. Outside of combat, gravity was the most risky, with 20 million kills. Status effects claimed 5.5 million lives, and traps came for the lives of 2.29 million. The deadliest mobs were the Pincer Spider, Lunatic Destroyer, and Wild Bear.
When it comes to weapons of choice, 38% of players chose to wield a spear, although the most used weapon overall was the Bloodthirsty Fiend’s Dual Wield. For some reason that we can’t quite comprehend, some players chose to go weaponless, with 43 bosses being defeated via pure fist melee combat. The fastest boss clear time on hardcore difficulty was Reese at just 17 seconds. We’d love to see that build.
