The Next PlayStation State of Play is Now Official

The Next PlayStation State of Play is Now Official

PlayStation has officially confirmed that it will be hosting a State of Play presentation on June 2, adding a few other details in the process. A new State of Play event has been rumored, discussed, and supposedly leaked for weeks now, so it’s interesting to see PlayStation finally confirm it.

This State of Play is, without a doubt, being positioned as PlayStation’s big summer event with that date. Summer Game Fest takes place on June 5, for example, and the Xbox Games Showcase takes place on June 7. Perhaps Nintendo will announce a major Direct sometime soon as well.

It’s The End of an Era for PlayStation Games on PC

PlayStation announces a major change for PS5 exclusive games expected to launch on PC as fans wait for ports of Ghost of Yotei and Saros.

State of Play Returns June 2

The next State of Play will be broadcast live on Tuesday, June 2, at 2 pm PT/5 pm ET, as announced in the PlayStation Blog, and it will kick off with a new look at Insomniac Games’ upcoming Wolverine game. Nothing else is currently confirmed for the lineup, but with the headlining game and an hour length confirmed, it should be a pretty good showcase of upcoming PS5 games.

For those who want to see the event in-person, that’s going to be possible in a few select areas. PlayStation has partnered with the Alamo Drafthouse in a few of the biggest cities around the United States to host special watch parties. Tickets to these events are free, but extremely limited. Anyone near Raleigh, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, or New York City should be sure to check out the Alamo Drafthouse website.

As to what other games could be there, that’s hard to say. Saros DLC might make an appearance, while it’s been some time since an official Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet received an update. Phantom Blade Zero is also a good bet. A game like GTA 6 is unlikely to be there, at first glance, because Rockstar Games does whatever Rockstar Games wants to do. That said, GTA 6 reportedly has a marketing agreement with PlayStation, so it would not be the biggest surprise.

With Wolverine releasing in 2026, it’s obviously the star of the show for PlayStation (and GTA 6 would overshadow it at the presentation). It’s uncertain how much of the show it takes up, but a decent chunk being dedicated to it makes sense.
