The Sims 4 Insider Believes Exciting News Is Coming Soon

A Sims 4 insider has shared information about the development of Project X, claiming that players can expect to hear exciting news sooner than they might expect. The Sims 4 is the latest entry in The Sims series, and it launched back in 2024, over a decade ago. Between expansion packs, game packs, stuff packs, and kits, over 100 pieces of DLC have been created for The Sims 4. While many gamers feel like they’ve invested too much in the game at this point and would feel reluctant to move onto a new entry, others feel like they’ve already poured enough hours into the game and are ready to move onto something different.

A while back, The Sims Team announced that they were developing a new Sims game under the code name Project Rene that would provide an open-world multiplayer experience. Players believed that this would be The Sims 5. So, many were somewhat disappointed to learn that Project Rene was a mobile game and not The Sims 4‘s successor. In the community, many believe that The Sims 5 has been scrapped for the time being and that the developers have moved on to a remaster of Sims 4 instead: Project X.

Rumor: First Image of The Sims 4 Remastered Potentially Leaked

A potential promotional image for The Sims 4 Remastered is going around the community, leading to speculation and discussion among curious fans.

Alleged AI Use Should Significantly Reduce Project X’s Development Time

According to an insider report posted on Simscommunity, a Sims news website, players should expect to hear official news about the rumored Sims 4 remaster very soon. The insider claims that EA is using Stability AI on the project in order to significantly reduce development time and have the product ready earlier. However, they believe that it would attempt to keep this on the down-low to prevent any backlash, as AI usage is a controversial topic.

While these accusations cannot be taken as facts, they are likely to be true, as EA engaged in a partnership with Stability AI back in October. In 2025, employees reported that EA was pushing them to use artificial intelligence to create code, make concept art, and more in order to increase efficiency. If this is true, players should expect to hear about Project X sooner, as the project won’t take half as long as it would without AI.

How Much Does It Cost to Own All Sims 4 Expansion Packs?

While some fans are excited to get a remastered version of The Sims 4, there are some questions that immediately come to mind, namely, how EA will handle cross-progression. In particular, fans want to know if they will be able to play all the packs that they’ve already purchased or have to buy them again. Obtaining all DLC packs for The Sims 4 costs hundreds of dollars, so naturally, gamers won’t be happy if they have to repurchase the expansions that they already have. At that point, even if fans are satisfied with The Sims 4‘s aesthetic and mechanics, it would be best to simply move on and get a brand-new game. So, if this is the case, many will surely stick to the original version of The Sims 4.

While it would be strange if this were their strategy, it seems that a lot of resources are going into this Project X, so EA will have to somehow profit from it. It is possible that The Sims 4 remaster will be sold similarly to Switch 2 upgrade packs; only those who paid for the upgrade pack would have access to the remastered version of the game. Nevertheless, most of what fans know about Project X and the possible Sims 4 remaster is based on rumors and leaks. The insider believes that with the help of Stability AI, the development project should take two years to complete, so gamers won’t have to wait long to learn whether it’s all true or not.
