Adrian has been writing, critiquing, and thinking about games since he first picked up an N64 controller many years ago. These days he writes reviews, news, and features for Game Rant and believes games should be held to the same artistic standards as books, movies, and television shows. When he’s not writing for Game Rant, Adrian writes even more reviews for Sirus Gaming and likes to get nerdy about tech and retro games at HackerNoon. Outside the gaming world, he spends plenty of time enjoying movies or listening to every genre of music under the sun. Follow him on Twitter for nonsense tweets likely related to Dragon Ball Z, or check out Breadhouse Records for some tunes.
Following its official announcement just a couple of weeks ago, Splitgate studio 1047 Games has released a cinematic reveal trailer for its upcoming Titanfall-inspired shooter, Empulse. The upcoming shooter is a new direction for 1047 Games, departing from the Portal and Halo-inspired Splitgate, for a movement-focused, mech-centric competitive FPS that could fill the gap Respawn Games left almost ten years ago.
Whenever It’s Time For a New Titanfall, Apex Legends Should Be Its Stepping Stone
Titanfall 3 may not be on the cards for a while, but if it does happen, Apex Legends should be the game’s most valuable stepping stone.
Fans can now get an early look at what Empulse has in store for them later this year with the new Early Access Cinematic Trailer, showcasing the game’s grapple mechanics, parkour-based movement, and a glimpse at what the mechs will look like. This early look keeps it light on the gunplay, but it seems to have a little bit of everything ahead of the upcoming full reveal. The 40-second trailer also shows the game’s upcoming P.A.I.N.T. movement system, which 1047 Games states is another Portal-inspired mechanic that replaces traditional movement-shooter jump pads. Early access for Empulse starts later this year, with signups already live on the game’s official website.
