A brand-new trailer for Transformers: Reactivate has just leaked online. This roughly 1-minute trailer teases new story details and showcases a few brief glimpses of gameplay for Transformers: Reactivate, a AAA adaptation that was canceled in January 2025.
Announced at the 2022 Game Awards, very little was officially revealed about Transformers: Reactivate. The only concrete details were that Transformers: Reactivate was being developed by long-time Gears of War support studio Splash Damage, and that it would be some kind of AAA online action game. In the year and a half since its cancelation, however, Transformers: Reactivate has been the subject of several major leaks, many of which pulled back the curtain on a truly troubled development cycle.
Transformers: Reactivate Gameplay Trailer Leaks Online
On October 26, the Twitter account @EnderGuyZV2 posted a minute-long video allegedly showing a leaked trailer for the final version of Transformers: Reactivate before its ultimate cancelation in January 2025. The trailer features a voiceover from Optimus Prime (seemingly voiced by someone other than Peter Cullen), who sheds new light on what would have been the game’s story. Prime states that ‘The Legion’ have “infected the universe” and that the only way to face them is by joining the Autobot and Decepticon forces.
Based on this recently leaked Transformers: Reactivate trailer, the game would have put players in the robotic boots of several iconic Transformers characters, with Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, and Megatron all being shown in the trailer. Players would have controlled these iconic characters from a third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective for the most part, blasting away at enemies with ranged weapons and closing the gap with a range of melee attacks. This trailer also gives a few brief glimpses of vehicle-based gameplay, showing Optimus’ truck form boosting up rocky terrain, Bumblebee’s buggy form shooting at opponents behind him, and Megatron’s tank form gunning down some enemies.
Before the leaked trailer plays, a few splash screens offer up some context about when and why this Transformers: Reactivate trailer was allegedly created. This trailer was reportedly intended for internal use only and is believed to be from October 2024, just three months before the game’s cancellation. It’s believed that this trailer was made in hopes of drawing in potential investors, with Tencent having allegedly halted its funding of Transformers: Reactivate around June or July 2024.
The splash screens go on to inform viewers that by the time this internal trailer was created, Transformers: Reactivate had moved away from being a live-service multiplayer game, and had instead shifted to become a single-player AAA game with a full campaign and optional online co-op. A documentary dedicated to unveiling Transformers: Reactivate‘s development history is currently in production by TFR Archives and its associated accounts, so fans can expect to see some more details from the canceled Transformers game in the near future.
