Known Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has commented on the intended November 19 release date of Grand Theft Auto 6, suggesting it is on track with only a small chance of any further delays. Many fans may understandably be concerned because, while Take-Two previously said marketing would begin this summer, nothing has effectively happened since GTA 6 opened pre-orders.
That said, there might be a strategic reason that GTA 6 is quiet right now (beyond the fact that the hype cycle can sustain itself). GTA 6 caught flak online for having no physical disc when picking up the game, and some see it as a progenitor, right or wrong, of PlayStation’s decision to end disc production as of January 2028. Any marketing right now is going to get lambasted on social media over this, even GTA 6, so perhaps Rockstar has decided to push it off. Or perhaps that is unrelated, and GTA 6 marketing is going to plan as lackluster as it currently is.
GTA 6 is 90% Close to Near Certainty Releasing on November 19
With fears of another GTA 6 delay spreading, Schreier discussed what he heard about GTA 6‘s release date from his sources in a recent YouTube video (at the 20-second mark above). Recently highlighted by the GTA 6 countdown, Schreier says that the game is 90% close to near certainty going to make this release date, adding that Rockstar Games is “pretty confident this release is actually happening. Unlike previous release dates, this one feels real.” Whether it was purely marketing or financial posturing, actual developers feeling like November 19 is happening is a big deal. Of course, the reality of 90% is that there’s a 10% chance it doesn’t, and that doesn’t necessarily relieve fans who are concerned about a new delay.
One important detail, however, is that this 90% comment originates from four weeks ago—and a lot can change in four weeks, especially in game development. What might have been 90% then could be 70-80% now, yet fans have no real reason to question Rockstar Games. While company posturing is a thing, and big wigs are going to stir up interest in any release, sources (presumably developers) speaking to Schreier about their confidence is a good sign. Executives can sometimes be disconnected from reality, which resulted in the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, but perhaps GTA 6 will walk a different path.
For now, fans can only wait for Rockstar or Take-Two to release GTA 6 Trailer 3 or any sort of new marketing material. The wait is winding down, at least. Most recent news comes from unofficial sources, or at least accidental reveals. For example, while it is a minor detail, the Xbox Store lists multiple installation options under the main GTA 6 pre-order hub, so it does seem like GTA 6 online will be packaged with the single-player game.
Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.
But the wait for concrete news on GTA 6 Online is way worse than the wait for GTA 6, so fans just need to be patient. November 19 is not far away.
