Many pixel-art RPGs with the same premise have launched in recent years, but Soverain: An Eternal Legend seems to have struck the right chord with fans, as it has already raised far more than it originally asked for on Kickstarter.
“Soverain is the realization of a dream I’ve carried with me since childhood,” says the creator, Jonathan Brassaud, who worked on the game for three years alone before deciding to fund his own studio, Tentacule Mauve. Brassaud has worked on several well-known games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Riders Republic.

Soverain: An Eternal Legend Was Funded in 12 Hours
On May 12, after years of development, Brassaud launched a Kickstarter campaign for his “dream game,” Soverain, with the goal of raising about $30,000 USD. To his surprise, the campaign reached its target in less than a day and soon blew past it. As of this writing, Soverain has amassed over 700 backers and raised over $42,000. With support coming from Kickstarter backers and Tentacule Mauve’s publisher, Brassaud and his team are now committed to launching Soverain by the end of 2027. The game is set to arrive on PC, Steam Deck, and both Nintendo Switch consoles, with possible ports for other platforms in the future.
