Many fans are eagerly awaiting an announcement for the next Nintendo Direct that usually caps off summer festivities, almost always taking place before the Tokyo Game Show, and it seems Ubisoft let slip when that is. Of course, it’s not the only event fans are waiting on either. Sony has already announced its September PlayStation State of Play takes place on Thursday, September 3, and it seems the Nintendo event will be on Thursday, September 10.
It’s worth mentioning that known “leaker” SwitchForce has also claimed a Nintendo Direct will take place on September 10, not long before the Ubisoft slip became public, but they are not generally trusted. NateTheHate has also commented on Nintendo Directs, but has not confirmed a date. In other words, there are a lot of rumblings about a Nintendo Direct date, but Ubisoft is the only one to specify a date.
Ubisoft Tweet May Mean a Nintendo Direct is Happening on September 10
Of course, Ubisoft does not outright say that September 10 will host a Nintendo Direct, though it makes sense with the State of Play and Tokyo Game Show (which is why SwitchForce could just be guessing). Instead, Ubisoft addressed recent leaks of Just Dance: Decade of Hits, an upcoming game in the popular franchise, and was dismayed with how the still-in-development content was being shared. The company then confirmed it would be sharing more with fans on September 10, leading to speculation that Ubisoft accidentally revealed the Nintendo Direct date.

For those unfamiliar, that’s because Just Dance and Nintendo Directs have gone hand-in-hand basically on an annual basis. Just Dance 2026 Edition, for example, was announced during a Nintendo presentation last year, making a Nintendo Direct a logical place for Ubisoft to properly reveal Just Dance: Decade of Hits. If Nintendo does have a Direct planned for September, as many fans believe, Just Dance: Decade of Hits would no doubt be among the games included. And if more about Just Dance: Decade of Hits is going to be revealed on September 10, then it’s a reasonable day for a Nintendo Direct.
Ubisoft does have plausible deniability, but it may be enough for fans to go on for now. That would line up a PlayStation State of Play for this week, a Nintendo Direct for next week, and the Tokyo Game Show for the week after, adding numerous events to a release-heavy month as well. It remains to be seen if this comes to fruition, but it’s the best indicator so far. That means fans can also expect an announcement no later than September 8, if not sooner, as that’s usually the latest window Nintendo confirms a direct.
The bigger question than when it is is what will be there. Ever since Nintendo revealed the remake for Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, it has been quiet on the upcoming game. But a proper September 2026 direct would be the best place to confirm a release date since it hardly needs any real marketing, so fans should stay tuned. News could very well be coming soon.
