Red Dead Redemption 2 may finally be set to receive the perfect Undead Nightmare sequel, thanks to a new announcement of Undead Damnation. Fans have long wondered why Red Dead Redemption 2 never got its own version of Undead Nightmare, but that’s about to change with this upcoming release.
The original Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare is widely considered to be one of the greatest DLCs ever made. Suggesting it just added zombies into Red Dead Redemption would do it a massive disservice. It included an entire storyline, crafted with the same meticulous detail as the base game in a brand-new adventure. An official sequel in RDR2 made a lot of sense, but it never quite materialized from Rockstar.
Red Dead Redemption 2: Undead Damnation Mod Announced With First-Look Trailer
With spooky season well underway and just a few days to go until Halloween, a brand-new mod named Red Dead Redemption 2: Undead Damnation has been announced with a scary teaser trailer. It teases some of the features of the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 mod, offering more of a taster of its atmosphere than a detailed gameplay showcase.
In the description, creator Rixus has detailed what fans can expect from the mod. As well as zombies (obviously), players will be able to find “new locations to save, cemeteries to clear, new missions and encounters, classic soundtracks, new zombie types, and much more,” in what is intended to be a prequel to Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. They also say that the mod will be available via Nexus Mods “soon,” but it doesn’t have a page on the site at the time of writing.
There have been multiple attempts to make a sequel to Undead Nightmare in Red Dead Redemption 2 in the past, each with its own take on what it could potentially look like. But with advancements in modding over the course of time, there’s no doubt that Red Dead Redemption 2: Undead Damnation has the potential to surpass everything that has come before. While it seems that Rockstar will never make an official RDR2 sequel to Undead Nightmare, it’s cool that talented fans have taken it upon themselves to do it instead.
It’s been over eight years since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, which went on to become one of the best-selling video games of all time. A sequel feels like an inevitability, even if Rockstar is currently focused on Grand Theft Auto 6. The developer has not yet commented on the possibility of Red Dead Redemption 3, and it will likely be a very long time before anything materializes.
