Walmart Seems to Be Selling Xbox Games for Really Cheap

Xbox fans shopping at Walmart are finding huge discounts on some of the most popular games for Xbox Series X and Xbox One. The massive Xbox discounts include fan-favorite games like Elden Ring, Doom: The Dark Ages, Monster Hunter Wilds, and more.

The price of video games has been a hot-button issue within the gaming community for years, with the cost of new games steadily rising. The current console generation saw the standard price for new games being raised from $60 to $70, with hardware for platforms like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S also growing more expensive. Some new games have even pushed $80 price tags on release, with the most notable example being Mario Kart World, a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. Now, however, Xbox fans are getting the chance to pick up a plethora of popular games for shockingly low prices at Walmart.

New Xbox Console Update Is Rolling Out Now

A month after its rollout to Xbox Insiders, Xbox’s latest Dashboard update finally arrives for all users on Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Some Xbox Games Are Majorly Discounted at Walmart

  • Sonic Racing: Crossworlds: $20.00
  • Borderlands 4: $30.00
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows: $20.00
  • Elden Ring: $25.00
  • Dragon Ball Sparking Zero: $30.00
  • Monster Hunter Wilds: $30.00
  • Doom: The Dark Ages: $20.00
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 7: $34.98
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6: $39.97

Some Xbox gamers recently discovered a major sale on games for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X at their local Walmart. A post on the Xbox subreddit from Reddit user vinz143 showed off the Xbox game display at a Walmart, featuring some huge markdowns on big-name games. Some of the biggest discounts included Elden Ring priced at $25, Assassin’s Creed Shadows marked down to $20, and South Park Snow Day at $15. The post also showed a Rollback sale for multiple recent Call of Duty games, with Black Ops 7 priced at $34.98 and Black Ops 6 at $39.97. The Reddit user also confirmed that many of the games are showing the same prices on Walmart’s website.

The big sale on Xbox games was confirmed to be typical for Walmart in the comments of the post. Another user replied that the discounted prices were likely a clearance move by Walmart to make space in stores for upcoming new releases, attempting to quickly clear older inventory. The original poster also confirmed that the selection of games saw similar markdowns for their PS5 versions on Walmart’s website. Many fans even suggested that the sale may be part of Walmart trimming its Xbox selection, with some users reporting vastly smaller retail space for the Microsoft console.

Xbox fans can take advantage of the sale to score big discounts on some of the biggest new releases from the past year. The sale features several games released during the latter half of 2025, including Borderlands 4 following the release of the Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned DLC. Several Xbox games were even marked down to less than $20, with the previously-mentioned South Park Snow Day joined by WWE 2K25 and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition.

Walmart’s new sale will free up space for a multitude of big Xbox launches throughout the coming months. Xbox is set to launch the newest entry in the Forza series next month, whisking players to a stylized recreation of Tokyo in Forza Horizon 6. Microsoft is also gearing up to launch not only a reboot of Fable later in 2026 but also a remake of the original Halo with Halo: Campaign Evolved. 2026 is set to be a big year for Xbox, with some of its biggest franchises receiving new games.
